“And have you both met Lady Imogen Harrington?”

“I haven’t, although it’s been difficult not to notice you,” Dani said, the picture of wide-eyed innocence.

Jameson couldn’t prevent his lips from twitching at the remark. He let his gaze float to hers and was reassured by what he saw.

“Enjoy the match,” he told them.

“We will.”

They settled back as the contest began. Ordinarily, he enjoyed watching tennis, and though this promised to be a good match, he was cognizant only of Dani, sitting less than five feet away from him. He caught her shifting in her seat and crossing her legs, the fabric of her dress drifting open to reveal gorgeous brown skin that appeared to have a slight shimmer. He was also aware of Cooper leaning close to her, whispering in her ear. Of Dani laughing at what he’d said.

“It looks like it might be true after all,” Imogen whispered inhisear.

“What might be true?”

“Liam Cooper and Duchess. They’ve been together all week. They might truly be an item.”

Don’t look over. Don’t look over.

He did and almost popped a blood vessel. The muscles in his body tensed.

He needed to get ahold of himself. He was acting possessive and jealous, and that wasn’t like him. He couldn’t seem to control his passions and it was driving him insane.

His weak character and selfishness almost ruined us... Your father put his desires over royal duty. You will not do the same.

Jameson tightened his jaw. Was he more like his father than he’d thought?

Feared?
