“But I feel so bad,” Dani was saying. “We did all that work.”

Liam nodded. “It’s true. We did.”

“Maybe we can still show them. You guys don’t mind, do you?”

A song began that he didn’t recognize, but the crowd did, because they went insane. Dani started rapping and when Liam sang his first lines, Jameson wanted to hate him, but he couldn’t. His voice was impressive.

“Fuck! It seems no one is immune to Duchess,” Julian said, coming to stand beside him. “You see how she moves? Can you imagine all of that riding your cock?”

Jameson balled his hands into fists. His uncle was asking for it. “Take your vulgarity elsewhere.”

“Relax. You don’t have to pretend. Mother isn’t here. Besides, I’m introducing the next act.”

“But that doesn’t require us to converse, does it?”

“You’ve managed to pull this off so far, but the celebration isn’t over yet. In some ways, it’s just beginning.”

With a smirk and a dip of his head, Julian wandered off.

What did that mean? Now he had to worry about what his uncle was planning?

The song ended and Liam kissed Dani’s cheek, sending the audience into raptures. Then he waved and ran off the stage.

“Wow, the crowd is stellar! I hope they stay pumped for my set,” Liam said, coming to stand next to Jameson.

“You were good.”

Onstage, there was a record scratch and the music changed to another beat that got the fans going.

“Let’s end on a banger, shall we, Wembley!” she yelled into her microphone. “D to the A to the N I / You wanna know why / Dudes go sky high / When I say jump—”

“Thanks. How can you help but be great when you’re with her? She makes you give everything, requires you to have your shit together. It’s one of the things I love about her.”

Liam accepted a towel from a stagehand and walked away.

Jameson turned to watch Dani, the singer’s words reverberating in his mind.

... one of the things I love about her.

... I love about her.

... love...

His stomach plunged and his pulse boomed in his ears, louder than the music and the voices of the audience singing in unison. He stumbled back a few steps and reached out to brace himself on a piece of equipment when his knees threatened to buckle.

He loved that about her, too.

Because he—

Loved—

Her.
