“Hmmm,” Dani responded, her brain still puzzling over her interaction with, and reaction to, the prince.

“You didn’t hear anything I just said!” Nyla finally faced the screen, her skillfully drawn brows arched, her tone breaking through Dani’s fog.

“Of course I did,” Dani protested. She hadn’t. “You’re having lunch with a producer.”

“That was like two topics ago. Plus, I can see your face. You ghosted.” Nyla narrowed her eyes. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Nothing.”

Nyla didn’t say anything. Just continued to stare at her.

“Fine! It’s the prince.”

“Who?”

“Remember Bennie mentioned a young royal had invited me? Well, it’s him. This is his house. And he’ll be staying here. With me.”

“What happened?”

“He acted like a straight-up jerk! Like my presence would stain his precious royal ancestral home.”

“Why don’t you leave?”

“I can’t. The goal is to stay under the radar for the next few weeks.” She sighed and looked out at the green vastness. “This isn’t just under the radar. It’s buried. Forget the east wing. I’m up in Rapunzel’s tower.”

“East wing?”

“Yeah. I’m in the east wing. Far away from him in the west wing.”

“You’re in separatewings?” Nyla asked, her voice full of humor. “Then it should be easy to avoid him, right?”

“I guess so.”

“Which prince was it?”

“Prince Jameson. Why?”

“The really hot one?” Nyla grabbed her phone off the vanity top.

Dani straightened. “Don’t—”

“Holy shit!” Nyla breathed, staring at the screen in her hand.

She turned the phone so Dani could see the photo of him wearing a dark gray suit and standing next to a blond woman, his head bent toward her as if listening to what she said, an intense expression on his face.

“I know what he looks like, Ny. I was just talking to him.”

And she was also aware that the photo was a pale imitation of the man in person.

“Why do they insist on keeping him in hiding?” Nyla continued to stare transfixed at the phone.

Considering how he’d acted, the Palace must’ve known what they were doing keeping the prince out of the limelight.

“Did he have bad breath?” Nyla asked suddenly.

“Uhhh... I don’t think so. It’s not like I was trying to sniff it or anything,” Dani said with a laugh.

“Has he lost a lot of hair since this picture was taken?”
