“There’s something I’ve always wanted to do in an office. Might help you relax, too.”

His cock jumped in interest when she pulled a silky red tie out of her bag.

“I borrowed this from your closet. I hope you don’t mind.” Olivia twirled the material around her finger, her voice warm and seductive. “There’s a scene in one of my books where the guy blindfolds the woman...”

Oh, yeah. He remembered that scene. Or rather, he remembered her telling him about that scene the night she’d come home drunk from her book club. He’d been so turned on he’d had to jack off in the shower before falling asleep.

But as Sammy bent a blindfolded Olivia over his desk, hiked her skirt up, and pounded into her, releasing days of pent-up frustration and energy, he was reminded that reality was sweeter than fantasy—at least as far as sexual scenarios went.

The only thing missing was the one-way glass from the scene, but she didn’t seem to mind. Olivia screamed so loud he had to clap a hand over her mouth so his staff didn’t think he was committing bloody murder in here.

Sammy’s orgasm ripped through him seconds after hers. His cock pulsed hard, and his thrusts grew erratic until he’d spent himself.

“Fuck, that was so hot,” he panted, kissing the side of her neck before he withdrew and disposed of his condom. He made a mental note to take out the trash himself later. “I approve of your office conduct. One hundred percent.”

A husky laugh emerged from Olivia’s throat as she straightened her clothes and fixed her hair. He’d untied the blindfold after they both came, and her eyes shone with post-coital satisfaction.

“Next time, let’s do it in a conference room,” she purred. “Glass walls. Big table. The whole shebang.”

“You’re a freak. I love it.” Sammy drew her in for another kiss. She could always make a shitty day better, and it wasn’t the sex. It was her. Just seeing her face and hearing her voice made him feel like ten pounds had been lifted from his shoulders.

Yeah, the roach crisis still hung over his head and he had a ton of stuff on his plate, but for a few hours, he would enjoy himself, dammit.

Surprisingly, he did. They went to the Ferry Building, where they ate their way through the food stalls. They walked along Fisherman’s Wharf and soaked in the warm sunshine. They grabbed ice cream cones from Bi-Rite and hung out at Dolores Park, where they kissed, cuddled, and even joined a group of stoned hippie types playing hacky sack.

Sammy laughed for the first time since he’d seen the tweet, and the fresh air untangled some of the mess in his head. Olivia had been right—he’d needed this.

“I’m a hacky sackgoddess! Admit it.” Olivia hip-checked him when they left the park a little after sunset. “Did you see me back there? I was unstoppable!”

“Easy there, Hacky Sack Goddess. I was taking it easy on you.”

“Says the guy who dropped the sack, what, five times?” Olivia squealed when Sammy picked her up and spun her around.

“I was rusty, you little devil,” he growled. “I’ll do better next time.”

“That’s what they all say,” she taunted. She looped her arms around his neck, her face glowing. “I hope you had fun today.”

“I did.” Sammy kept her feet off the ground as he pecked her on the lips. “Thank you.”

“Anytime. Besides Hacky Sack Goddess and Spreadsheet Extraordinaire, I’m also the Mistress of Fun.”

“That sounds kinky. I like it.”

Olivia laughed and slapped him on the shoulder. “Is sex all you think about?”

“Nah. I think about other stuff two percent of the time.” He set her down so he could give her a longer, proper kiss. “Seriously, though. I needed this afternoon. I appreciate you spending it with me.”

“You don’t need to thank me. Iwantto spend time with you.” Sadness flitted over her face. “I wish the summer could last longer.”

Sammy swallowed hard. They had precious little time left as roommates before Olivia returned to Stanford. It wasn’t ahugedeal—Palo Alto was less than an hour’s drive from the city, and they’d agreed to visit each other on the weekends. But he was going to miss seeing her every day. Miss coming home to her, falling asleep and waking up next to her...

Sammy realized with horror that the emotions buffeting him at that moment weren’t new. He’d felt them once before, a near-decade ago, when he’d been head over heels for a girl who’d taken his breath away the first time he saw her. Now here he was, experiencing thosesame feelingsfor the same girl, all grown up, except the intensity eclipsed the first time a hundredfold. He supposed he should’ve expected it, considering they were dating again, but he hadn’t expected it to come on this fast or this strong.

Sammy was in love with Olivia again—more than he’d ever been. And he had no clue if she felt the same toward him.

Aw, fuck.
