Blood. Blood everywhere. Jade is holding her stomach and screaming while blood is fucking gushing down her legs. The nurses go apeshit, screaming about an emergency C-section, a placental abruption, and some other bullshit. Before I can get my bearings they are ripping my girl from my arms and putting her on a gurney. As they wheel her away I try to follow but am held back. Looking up to see who has the fucking balls to hold me back from my baby, my eyes connect with Ace’s. He tightens his hold on me, “Can’t go back there man. Doctors need to work on saving your kid and your girl.” I know he’s right but fuck that’s my whole world in there being wheeled away.

An hour passes and still not a damn soul has come out to give me an update. The nurse at the station assures me that no news is good news in this situation. Though that may be the case I was crawling on the walls. Ace had to leave me after he managed to get me slightly settled down. Scarlett had to be sedated when she saw Jade being taken away, just as they were checking her in. My brother had his hands full.

Another hour passes when finally the doctor comes into the emergency room. It looks like a scene straight out of the horror film Carrie, his scrubs covered in blood while his face looks solemn. He slowly walks towards me and I can’t take it anymore. I run towards him, grabbing him by his neck, and demand to know everything about Jade and our baby.

“Are they okay? Tell me they are okay. What happened? Where is Jade? Can I see her? How is the baby?” Assaulting him with my rapid-fire questions I barely take a breath.

He puts a hand on my shoulder, “Hold up there son. I'll answer all your questions. Come sit with me. You need to relax a bit before going back there.”

I unwillingly follow him knowing I have no other choice. “Jade is fine. She lost a lot of blood and it was touch and go during delivery but she's in recovery now. I'll take you back there as soon as we are done talking.” Relief fills my body. She's okay. She's alive. She’s okay…. wait.

“What about the baby? How is the baby?” I ask rather tensely.

“The babies are doing well, son. They came early but they were a good size and had their lungs pretty developed. They won't need to be here long. A few weeks to get them up and out of here but they are doing well.”

Good, wait babies? “Babies? No sir, I think you are mistaken. My girl only had one kid in her when she went in there.” They can’t like fucking multiply inside the womb right? Like from stress or some shit? What the fuck is going on?

“Going in we didn't realize what we were dealing with. One of the placentas had abrupted and there was blood everywhere. Trying to get that under control and delivering the baby, we noticed a second cord and found your daughter hidden behind your son. Her placenta was perfectly intact. It’s more common than you’d think.” Daughter, son. I have a daughter and a son. Holy fucking shit.

“When can I see them? Are they with Jade? Has she met them?” Anxiously I can’t get my questions out fast enough. “Unfortunately because of the nature of the emergency cesarean we needed to put her under immediately. She should be waking in just a few minutes, I'll take you back there to meet your babies and see their momma.”

“No. No, I can’t meet them without Jade. I'll wait until she wakes up. Take me to my girl Doc.”

“Right this way, Mr. Silver.” I follow the Doc through the double doors. I walked in here, just Jade and I, but when we walk back out through these doors, I'm going to not only be with my girl but both of our babies. We have gone from two to four in a matter of minutes. I can’t fucking believe this is happening, but I know this is exactly what we needed. We are going to be the best fucking parents.

I believe in us.
