My pussy throbs in anticipation, his words serving as the perfect foreplay. I nod like a needy whore, my earlier rage gone just as fast as it came. Only with him, only like this.

???

I don’t know how Sebastian convinced me to come to a doctor’s office down in Galen Grove, but apparently this is where Scarlett has gone to try and keep things more private and away from the gossiping bitches of Hillcrest. Grove Medical Group is a small clinic, secluded in a twenty-story office building on the edge of town, but Dr. Sheppard is apparently an old family friend, who is paid generously to keep the information she learns to herself.

Great, even this doctor is on their payroll.

Frankly, Sebastian has been annoying the shit out of me ever since we drove here, over thinking everything, and panicking about the slightest of things. I haven’t stopped throwing up, although I am putting on some weight because I eat twice as much as I puke out, he’s worried I’m not getting the proper vitamins and shit given I’ve only gone once to the doctor prior to this, and like I said, ran out having a full-blown panic attack.

“It hasn’t been because I haven’t wanted to,” I sneer, turning away from him and facing the doctor, “It’s just, when the fuck was I supposed to find the time, or be able to sneak away to go to a doctor’s office, not to mention I don’t have health insurance.”

“We won’t worry about that here dear,” Dr. Sheppard assures me, “I am very generously paid to work no matter your economic status.” Dr. Eileen Sheppard is an older woman, maybe in her mid to late forties, tall and slim, with long brown hair down to her lower back, and kind eyes.

“You have to think not only about yourself now Jade, but you also have to take care of yourself for the baby,” Bass says, and even Dr. Sheppard realizes that was the wrong thing to say.

“You think I’m not taking care of myself?” I shout, his face instantly scowling at my indignation. “Do you honestly think I’m that irresponsible?”

“That’s not what I…”

I don’t give him the chance to redeem himself before giving him a piece of my mind. “I haven’t had a lick of alcohol, which trust me given the way my life has been going in recent months, I’d say that’s a huge accomplishment. I’m always tired, sick to my stomach, getting fatter every day, not to mention I’m horny as fuck and you won’t fucking touch me.”

“Jade…”

“Maybe I should give you a moment,” Dr. Sheppard mutters.

“No!” Both Bass and I shout simultaneously.

“Doc, can you please tell this insufferable moron that he’s not going to make me lose the baby if he fucks me, no matter how rough it gets.” Dr. Sheppard’s eyes go wide in shock before her calm guise falls back in place.

Bass groans beside me, running his hand over his face and chin, “Jade, what the hell?”

“Look Sebastian, darling,” Dr. Sheppard says, placing a hand tenderly upon his shoulder. Anger boils in my gut at the sight of her touching him, but I somehow manage to keep my emotions in check. Last thing I need to do is piss off my doctor. “It’s a common misconception to be honest. Some couples have many questions about maintaining a healthy sex life during the pregnancy, and it’s definitely safe to do so.”

“I’m not worried about hurting her Doc,” he says, pulling away from her, noticing my glare directed at the placement of her hand. “I just want to make sure we keep Jade, and the baby, healthy. She throws up almost every day, multiple times a day, and instead of putting on weight, she’s losing it.”

“Well that’s why you’re here today. We’ll run some blood work, some tests to make sure her hormone levels are where they should be since this is only your second checkup, and an ultrasound to check on the baby’s vitals and get our first look.”

After taking my vitals, Dr. Sheppard leaves the room for a moment leaving Sebastian and I in a deafening silence. Once she returns, she washes her hands, slipping on a pair of gloves, and pouring some weird lotion onto her hands.

“Okay I’m going to need you to lie back and lift your shirt up over your stomach.”

I stare at her dumbfounded by her request. “We’re going to do an ultrasound, to hear the baby’s heartbeat and since you are about eighteen weeks, we can try to see if the baby allows us to see his or her sex. That is if you’d like to.”

I turn to Bass who has an equally shocked expression on his face. “I don’t think we do,” I murmur, Sebastian gaze turning to me.

“Very well, why don’t we just try and listen to a heartbeat and then we’ll get you on your way. I have some supplements for you to take to help with whatever nutrients the constant vomiting might be preventing you from absorbing. Shall we?”

I lean back completely on the exam table lifting my shirt off and over my head, sitting in my biker shorts and bralette. I pull my shorts down just under my pelvis, while Dr. Sheppard coats my stomach in cold gel and proceeds to grab the ultrasound wand and places it over my abdomen. Black and white images appear on the computer in front of her, swirling around in an odd shape.

“Looks like the baby is a bit shy. Their body is shifted to one side so we probably wouldn’t be able to determine the sex anyways,” Dr. Sheppard says, carefully watching the screen.

Suddenly a light thumping, like that of horses galloping in the distance, is heard in the room. I look up at Bass whose eyes remain glued to the screen before him.

I turn back to Dr. Sheppard who watches me awaiting my response. “Is that?”

“Yes, that’s your baby's heartbeat.”

“Oh my god that's so crazy” I say whispering to myself, Bass looks down at me in that moment and I notice tears in his eyes when they meet mine.
