ChapterTwenty-Three

“I thinkI want those chocolate bars now,” I whispered against his skin, then licked him, just a little bit. Mhmm. Better than chocolate.

His skin raised in goose bumps instantly. God, I loved that so much.

“I thought you said you weren’t hungry,” he teased, his voice still thick with the aftermath of his orgasm—my favorite sound in the world.

“I am now.”

Suddenly, he moved, and I regretted having even mentioned the chocolate, even though I really could use some sugar. But I didn’t want him away from me, not for a single minute.

“No time for chocolate right now,” Dominic said and gently pushed me off his chest. “Turn on your stomach.” He raised up on his elbow and looked down at me, a lazy smile—actual smile—breaking his face, showing me some of his straight teeth.

Wow.

“Why?” I breathed, running my fingers over his cheeks, his eyes, his nose, his lips. He closed his eyes and let me, leaning into my hands, like he loved my touch just as much as I loved to touch him.

“Turn around, Teddybear,” he whispered and nudged me with his arm still under me.

“No! I want to see you,” I complained.

“I want to see you, too. Every inch of you. I want to remember you.” His golden eyes flashed something for a second, something sad. It made my heart skip a beat instantly, but then he kissed my lips, and I was apparently powerless against them, so I let him push me to the side, then lay down on my stomach, hugging the pillow to my chest.

He sat up on the bed and began to touch my back, tracing my backbone and my ass, my shoulders, my arms. My eyes fluttered closed involuntarily, and I relished the warmth of his touch, but something nagged at my mind still.

Why would he need to remember anything? I wasn’t going anywhere. And he wasn’t, either…was he?

What if…what if he was just pretending now?

Warm, soft lips pressed hard on the base of my neck and my body heated up. It occurred to me that I’d asked him to kiss me before this began for this same reason: to know how he felt.

And I knew. I felt his featherlight kisses just as much as those that were almost violent. I felt his teeth grazing my skin and his wet tongue sliding down my back. I felt it all, and it was real. Nobody could fake that. It showed me how he felt more than any word he could ever say to me—he wanted me, just as much as I wanted him.

So, I sighed into the silk pillowcase and let myself enjoy his small touches, the press of his fingers, and he took his time to kiss and bite every little bit of me until he reached my ass. He lay down sideways on the bed, one arm over my thighs, the other hand caressing my skin. I could fall asleep within seconds if he kept doing that.

How did he even know how to touch me so well? Was there a manual somewhere about me? Because if there was, Dominic Dane had studied it in detail.

“Teddy?”

“Hmm?”

“You have a heart-shaped freckle on your butt cheek,” he informed me. My eyes squeezed shut.

“I know.” He leaned down and pressed his lips in the middle of my left cheek, right where the freckle was. He then traced the shape with his fingertip, too.

“And it’s kinda—”

“Pink,” I said. “Yep, I know.”

He chuckled, and his breath blew against my skin. I’d never heard him chuckle before.

What more did he hide behind that expressionless face of his? Because I was already dying to see all the pieces of him.

He planted a kiss on my freckle again. “It’s sickeningly cute,” he muttered to himself, and that was probably the first time in my life that I didn’t mind being called cute. I’d always liked my freckle, too—it was a perfect heart shape with the tip slightly stretched to the right, and my mom said I was born with it. I’d always liked it, but now, I loved it. I loved the new meaning behind it.

“What about you? Do you have any interesting marks on you?” Other than the lines of your muscles?

“Not really,” he said, running the tips of his finger up my backbone. I squeezed the pillow to my chest tightly. “Why are you always so nice to everyone?”
