“Bring Cassandra,” Aunt Helena suggests. “Introduce her to more of your friends.”

“No,” he blurts, then looks at me. “We’re playing video games with guys online. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.”

At the twitch of his eyes, I immediately know he’s lying.

“No girls allowed, I see.” Aunt Helena lets out a short breath and glances at the window. “Looks like the rain stopped. Cassandra, how about shopping?”

I shrug. “Sounds good.”

“See you later then,” Reid says.

My eyes follow him until he disappears at the corner. I know we’re no longer in a place where he’ll share his secrets. But I hope we will be again because I grow more intrigued by my cousin daily.
