I grab my wedge heels and quietly step outside the room, sneaking downstairs barefoot.

All the lights are off in the house. It’s after ten, so I’m sure Aunt Helena is fast asleep.

I continue through the dark to the front door, putting on my shoes before walking across the stone entrance to Reid’s car at the gates.

He carries his eyes over me when I settle in the passenger side and hums a low rumble. “You look great.”

“Thanks.” I regard his formal shirt inside a nice casual jacket over dark jeans. “Not bad yourself.” He smells damn good too.

Reid smirks and eases off the property once the gates open. He steers down the road, turning in the direction of the water. In another few minutes, he pulls up at a seaside club.

I turn from the window and catch him staring at my dress—my boobs, to be exact.

At the clearing of my throat, he lifts his eyes to my face.

“So, how are we getting in?” I question while fussing with my straps. “I don’t have a fake ID.”

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about that.”

We get out of the car at the same time, and I keep close as we approach the entrance.

“I didn’t take you for a guy who liked clubs.”

He looks at me briefly. “Saw you dancing at the concert the other night. I figured you’d like it, and I want to see you dance again.”

My skin tingles from the statement. Is that an appropriate thing to say to your cousin? Or am I making too much of a big deal out of it?

I try to settle my thoughts as we reach the entrance. Reid utters a few words to the beefy doorman and slides cash to him. My brows fly up when he grants us entry just like that, despite the displeased outburst of the people waiting to get in.

We pause at the railing and look down on the lively clubbers. I’m immediately struck by an exciting thrill from the roaring house mix, and I rock a little as it buzzes in my bones.

“Come on.” Reid holds my hand, unknowingly igniting an inferno in my body that I desperately try to cool as he leads me to a high table.

“Okay?” he asks, voice raised so I can hear him over the music.

Calming down, I brace forward and shout back, “Yeah. How did you get in?”

He pulls his mouth into a cunning half-smile. “There are many things you can get away with around here with a respected last name and wealth.”

“Ah.” I bob slowly, squinting at him.

He motions to something over my shoulder. “Here comes everyone.”

They flock to the table before I have the chance to turn, and I become a tad shy at the group size. Four guys, including Mark, my two sweet new friends, another gorgeous brunette, and, unfortunately, Bristol. Who invited her? Then again, she most likely invited herself along.

She cuts her eyes at me, throws her wavy hair off her shoulder, and moves to Reid’s side.

“Hey, girl,” Michelle greets, followed by Nichole.

“Hey.” I take in their attire. “You guys look great.”

Both are sexy in short black dresses. So does the brunette in her peach bodycon. I can’t deny that even Bristol is appealing in her white cocktail off-the-shoulder dress.

“You too,” Nichole compliments sweetly, admiring my periwinkle thigh-length skater dress and wedge sandals.

“Thank you.” I can’t help glancing at Reid and Bristol again.
