A shudder rocks my body at his voice.

I don’t stop. I’m annoyed he was talking to his ex and frustrated with myself for feeling that way.

“Cassie, wait!” Reid catches up to me and grips my hand, slowing me down.

He comes before me, and I fold my arms and try to alleviate the emotions.

“What happened? Did someone—”

“Are you getting back with Bristol?” slips out before I can stop myself.

His brows go up. “No. Hell no. She wanted to say goodbye. She’s flying out tomorrow.”

“Oh.” That’s a relief. My frustration settles a little. The rest is because of the warmth between my thighs that won’t cool.

“Oh?” Reid shifts in place while observing me, and my skin tingles under his intense gaze. “Why don’t you tell me what this is really about, Cassie?”

“What do you mean?” I mutter.

He rakes his fingers through his hair, blows a long breath, then comes out with it. “I know you lied. You knew it was me at the club. I can tell, Cass. You want me, just as I want you.”

Though my body is on fire, and I can’t control my racing heart, I shake my head. “No, you…”

“I want you,” Reid says again as if making sure I hear him.

He edges closer, and I stagger back before he touches my face. “Don’t say things like that.”

“Because we’re cousins who like each other?” His voice exudes undeniable desire, giving me a sexual thrill when it shouldn’t. “I’m not fighting it anymore.”

Nervous, I try to walk past him.

Reid grabs my arm, pulls me into his chest, and lowers his head at my neck.

My eyes widen. “What are you doing?”

“I can’t stop thinking about that moment,” he growls. “Holding you against me. The way you pressed your ass into my cock. You didn’t stop me. You wanted me to touch you.”

“I had something to drink,” I attempt to fight it. “I wasn’t thinking straight.”

“You knew exactly what was happening,” he grunts. “It’s okay, Cassie. You’re scared. But you don’t have to be. Just allow yourself to feel it.” Punctured breaths leave me as he trails his lips along my jaw, heading for my mouth.

“Don’t, Reid.” I push him back before he kisses me.

“Cassie—”

“No,” I grit. “We’re cousins, Reid. Cousins.”

I turn and start walking.

“I want you, Cassie,” he says again. “It’s not going away, and I don’t want it to.”

His confession ripples through me like electricity and heightens the pulses between my thighs.

I pause and glance back at him. “You can’t say those things to me, Reid.”

“We’re not blood.” He draws a deep breath. “I’m willing to cross the line. All you have to do is meet me halfway.”

I clench my fists and fight the urge to throw myself into his arms. “Let’s just forget all this. Okay?”
