"I'm sure Andre would love that," I whispered back because he was right next to her, wolfing down a sandwich.

"It's fine," he assured me after swallowing.

"I appreciate that." Man, things were still so weird between us, and I wished to heaven that I could quit my job someday soon. How awkward was it to socialize with your boss on the weekends?

Josh surprised me by sitting down on my other side, a full plate balanced on one leg. Good thing I had splurged on the sturdy paper plates, not the cheap ones.

With his free leg, he nudged my thigh. "Hey, so I understand from James that this was all your idea."

Nibbling on a chip, I shrugged. "James was a big help. I could never have done it without him. And all your friends actually," I added, taking in the pile of bats, balls, and gloves that they'd brought.

"Look at you being all modest." Josh laughed between bites.

"All right. You know what? I'll take all the credit. Thank you very much."

That just made him laugh more, and the sound settled deep in my heart. His usual carefree attitude was made even more so by the events of the day, not to mention the beautiful surroundings seeping inward.

How could anyone not be happy in the middle of a gorgeous park on a Saturday afternoon, soaking in the sun's rays and the sounds of nearby children's laughter?

"So what'd you get me?" Josh asked, his tone kind of flirty.

What the heck was happening right now?

Something was definitely changing between us. I could feel it, sense it, almost taste it.

"What?" I asked, feigning shock. "This isn't enough?"

"You know I'm kidding." Laughing, he shoved a chip in his mouth.

And now I nudged him with my knee. "But I do have something for you."

At that, his eyebrows went up. "For real?"

"For later," I teased. Whoops, my voice had definitely sounded flirty there, implying something I hadn't really meant to imply.

Those gorgeous eyes of his widened. "Later?"

Did the sun get hotter? Did it release some kind of solar flare? Or was it just the way Josh was looking at me?

Our eyes caught, the air growing heated around us. Yeah, something had happened all right. My mind wandered to that magical kiss we'd shared, and I suddenly wanted that again. Desperately.

Would it be the same? Would Josh's lips taste like heaven once more?

I could see that adorable pink flush creeping up Josh's already tan cheeks, and I smiled. He was feeling it too. Thank God.

Part of me wondered, would Josh still reject me if I reached for him? Or would he now be okay with acting on this crazy physical pull between us?

Someone's sudden shout distracted me, my eyes reluctantly leaving Josh's handsome face to see what was going on in the outer world that I'd forgotten momentarily.

Sour cream guy rushed towards us, his phone in his outstretched hand. "You guys are never going to believe this!"

"What?" Josh asked, his tone echoing my confusion.

Everyone quieted down, listening intently to whatever he had to say.

A large grin overtook his face. "Matt Blaze just tweeted about your podcast."

Josh and I both gasped, turning to look at each other, our mouths hanging open like some kind of mirror image.
