For a long time, we stayed like that. Heads together, breathing in sync, Josh's hands sweetly caressing my arms, my face, my hair, like I was the most delicate prize that he cherished above all else.

He'd stop only to kiss me, on my cheeks, my nose, my eyelids, then whisper sweet words.

"I love you so much," he said, his voice soft and tender in a way I'd never heard from him before. "You are the most amazing girl—I mean, woman—" He closed his eyes a moment as I let his words sink in. And when he opened them again, he continued, "Most amazing person I've ever met. Ever."

Josh really thought that? I could hardly believe what I was hearing. Who knew Josh could be like this? Grabbing both sides of his face, I smiled at him. "No, you are."

His grin was wider than I'd ever seen it. "Wanna make a bet?"

I laughed right in his face. "What else is there to possibly bet?"

His eyes grew heated again. "Oh, I can think of a lot of things."

A very unladylike snort might have escaped my mouth. Normally, I would have been mortified making a sound like that. But an awesome realization suddenly hit me like a freight train.

It didn't matter. Josh loved me exactly the way I was.

"What do you have in mind?" I asked, excitement and lust rising up together in my veins.

He bit down on his lower lip in thought while I watched him, admiring every handsome feature up close in a way I never had previously. His eyes stared into mine as our breathing picked up, my palm on Josh's chest where I could feel his heart beating.

"What were we talking about?" he asked.

Laughter overtook me along with a happiness that shook my soul, shook my whole existence. And when Josh joined in, I didn't know if I could even take it.

Could your heart explode from joy? Was that a thing?

My heel bumped into the plastic bag, making a crinkly sound. Oh, I'd completely forgotten about Josh's groceries. Leaning down, I reached for the bag.

"So what do we have here anyway? What was poor Josh going to eat as comfort food all alone on his birthday night?"

I didn't wait for an answer, just rifled through to see a pint of chocolate ice cream, the good stuff, not the cheap kind. But unfortunately, the carton practically crushed itself in my grasp. The damn thing had melted from the heat.

Chocolate oozed onto my hand, still at least cool and oddly refreshing. With Josh's eyes on me, a thought popped into my head, and I didn't even pause to think about it. I lifted my dripping hand out of the bag and smeared it all over Josh's chest. Gasping from the cold, he jumped backward, away from me like I was a poisonous snake.

But his shocked expression soon turned into a grin, uh, kind of an evil grin if I wasn't mistaken. "You are so going to get it," he said.

Damn. I didn't know whether to be scared or turned on. Lunging forward, he ripped the bag from my hands, and as he reached inside, I grabbed my chance at escape and ran into the kitchen.

But he was too fast, and I felt something cold hit my back, then slide down and land on the tile floor. Oh, shit. Laughing, I whirled around to face him, ready to tell him off. But that was a mistake.

Josh was standing right there, armed with a canister of whipped cream, aimed at my mouth.

"You wouldn't dare," I taunted, half-wanting him to do it.

"You don't think I will?" Although his face appeared to be serious, his eyes were alight with mischief.

Clearly, I needed some kind of strategy here, some way to beat Josh at his game. A quick glance took in the bag right next to him, most likely with the melty ice cream still inside. But my eyes were drawn back to Josh who was still buck naked, his magnificent body outlined by the light behind him.

God, he was stunning. And I couldn't get enough of him. My eyes roamed every inch as he continued to hold the whipped cream pointed straight at me. But I noticed he was distracted too, taking a good look at my very nude lower half, his eyes darting down my legs.

It dawned on me that I held the ace up my sleeve. I still had my shirt on. And underneath it was hopefully the perfect diversion to disarm Josh.

Slowly, trying my best to be seductive, I grasped the bottom edge of my tank top and began to lift it up, watching Josh's eyes go wide as my bra was revealed.

Oh, yes. Take that, Josh.
