And before I knew it, I found myself up on stage singing about pissing the night away, apparently a karaoke favorite with this group. Josh danced next to me, half-laughing, half-singing along with James and the rest of the crew.

The mood was infectious, and we seriously ended up pissing the night away, which I found out meant drinking. Yep, drinking, not actually pissing. Although with the amount of liquor flowing through me, I did plenty of that too.

Underneath it all, I couldn't get that green flash out of my mind. I hoped and prayed that it meant something, that some kind of miracle would happen. But only time would tell.

Hours later, Josh helped me all the way up my stairs even though I told him I could walk myself. Just inside my door, he let go of me, and the loss of his warmth hit me hard. I turned to say something, anything, to let him know how much the night had meant to me, how much fun I'd had with him and his friends.

But right when I opened my mouth, Magic let out a bark next door, and Josh began to head out. "Poor guy's probably wondering where I am," he said.

"Yeah. I bet," I agreed. "You can have him for the night. I'm good."

"You sure?"

I nodded, feeling a bit wobbly. "I'm about to pass out."

"All right. Sleep well, Jess."

"Yeah. You too."

As he turned to go, I called out to him. "Hey, Josh?"

Those amazing eyes met mine. "What's up?"

"I had such a fun time tonight." I smiled at him. "Thank you."

"No problem," he said, returning my smile. "Any time."

And with that, he was off, not even glancing back, making me wonder if I'd imagined everything between us. Had Josh really said he wanted me to want him a while back? And tonight, had he really seemed like he was going to kiss me? Or was he just staring at my mouth because I had chocolate on my lips or something?

Shutting the door and locking it, I shook my head. God help me. Why were guys so damn confusing?
