“Rager?” Walt asks with an amused smile. How can he go from being so angry and storming off to smiling so easily?

“Yeah.” He chuckles.

“Who’s Rager?” Rowe asks.

“Someone stuck in the body of a five foot two woman who could do some real damage.” Walt says. “You don’t want to meet him. He didn’t like me at all.”

This makes me smile because Rager liked me just fine. He even flirted with me each time he saw me. It was weird because it’s Tini, but I understand her personalities.

Tucker looks at me, and he doesn’t say anything, but I know that look. I nod. I have to do this. He has to go back. Without thinking, I practically run to him and wrap my arms around his back. “I’m going to miss you.” I say.

“I’m going to miss you too, Everie. We’ll still do our weekly meetings. You and me. You and Tennesse. Now, you have to let go before Tini thinks I’m cheating on her.” He jokes, but I know he’s just trying to make me feel better. “A hand here, Walt?”

All I feel is someone tugging me by the neckline of the back of my shirt until I let go of Tucker. Tucker watches both me and Walt for a second. Then he says his goodbyes. Leaving me in this tension filled place.

“It’s this way.” Rowe says, breaking the tension or rather putting a pause on it.

“Come on, cupcake.” Walt says to me as he transfers his hand from my t-shirt to my hand. He grabs my suitcase and follows Rowe, moving me with him, but all I can think about is that no one has deliberately grabbed my hand before.

My mom didn’t touch me after what happened and when I came back. No one. But Walt isn’t thinking about how I would react. He’s just doing it without so much as being uncomfortable on how this could turn out to be. The pitter-patter of Coco’s feet relaxes me because I know I have something familiar with me.
