After we stop, we laugh it off and I hug Moonlight again. “I’m so, so happy for you. I’m excited! How excited are you?” I ask as I let her go.

“Very!” She smiles. “I can’t wait to hold him or her. To do all the cheesy mom stuff, change diapers and you know all that funky stuff. I accept all babysitting duties from you.”

I chuckle. “Whaaaaaat? I mean, how about we throw in a nanny and we’re good to go?”

“Hmm,” Moonlight fake glares at me.

“I’m kidding. No Nannies from me. I’ll be happy to babysit.”

“Good and then I’ll return the favor when it’s your turn.” Moonlight says and then she realizes what she said. Her eyes grow big, and she grabs my hand in hers. “Oh shit, I’m sorry, Everie. That was, it was…”

“It’s okay,” I give her a smile. “I know. Don’t worry about it. I’ve begun the journey of making peace with it. I’m alright.”

“I didn’t think.”

“And you don’t have to. I’m not going to censor you or not be happy with you because of what happened to me.” I take her hand. “Now, come with me. I’ve got a greenhouse to show you.” I lead her towards the greenhouse.

It still stings that I miscarried, but I would never let anyone else feel like they can’t be happy, especially Moonlight. She’s my friend and I can put my sadness to the side to be ecstatic that she’s having a baby.
