As the song ends, I release a shaky breath and Danny smiles at me. I smile at him as I mouth, we did it. Danny leans in and kisses me for the finish as the audience claps and whistles. He dips me as the curtains shut and once, they do; I pull away.

“Fuck, Walt is going to kill you.” I say and I hear laughter. I turn to the side to see who on the side is laughing, and it’s Mayhem.

He points to my microphone and lets me know everyone heard us. Oh, God… Not opening night.

Neither of us has time for Danny to fully react to my statement as we’re rushed off the stage. I quickly change into my dressing room because we’re only given so much time.

I reapply my lipstick and fluff my hair after removing the crown. I slip into my golden satin dress with a low V cut in the front and a split that stops right at my upper left thigh. Donning the high heels that I never wear, making my legs appear even longer makes me smile because the sheer golden spray that was on earlier is still there.

Everything glistens as I exit the dressing room and walk with confidence, with my head held up high. When I get to the side of the stage, Mayhem does a double take, and it makes me smile. He smirks, then shakes his head as my name is finally called.

“Last but not least, our Santine, played by our beloved Everest Bautista!” The director shouts my name out.

Clearing my throat, I walk out and smile as the band plays the very beginning of Careless Whisper by George Michael.

I took a wild guess after I saw Whit calming Walt down with George Michael that this could show him. I thought about him every time I was here and couldn’t spend time with him doing our rehearsals.

The director asked each of us to do something cutesy or whatever when we came out. I decide to be bolder as the band picks up the tempo and begins playing the rhythm to Justin Timberlake’s Senorita. I use the stage as my runway, making sure that my split accentuates my thigh. When I get to the middle of the stage, I blow only one person a kiss, Walt and he smirks a bit then cocks his brow as though to tell me, he’s still upset then I dance a little moving my waist from side to side as I turn away while moving back to where the cast is standing.

Danny walks over and hands me a bouquet as the audience continues to cheer for us. We all stand in one line and take a bow.

I hope Danny can fight, especially from what I saw Walt do in the gym with his brother. We walk closer to the front of the stage and take another bow, but this time; I don’t look down. I look at Walt and he’s standing with everyone else clapping, but that devilish smirk hasn’t left his face. A shiver runs down my spine.

Walt Cambridge is not playing with me.
