“That’s not funny.” I say, pulling back to give him my best upset look.

Walt chuckles. “You can’t mean mug for shit, baby. You just end up looking fucking cute.”

I roll my eyes heavenward and kiss my teeth as I run my fingers through his hair, looking at him again. My heart beats a little with a panic. If Anika succeeded, I would’ve never gotten to fall in love with Walt.

“What are you thinking about?” He asks.

“Just that I wouldn’t have gotten to have this with you if she succeeded. I don’t like how that makes me feel, Disney.”

“Don’t worry about all that shit, baby. I don’t give a fuck about someone trying to take me from you because it won’t fucking happen. A person only gets the one up on Walton Cambridge once.” He says.

“You know you refer to yourself in third person, right?”

“Yeah, and are you going to do something about it, Everie?” He teases with that devilish smirk on his face, causing those killer dimples to pop up.

“I missed you.” I say in a sighing smile and kiss him again as the sun rises, bathing us in sunlight through the sheer white linen curtains. Nothing is going to stop me from kissing Walt.
