“We lost,” he reminded her.

“Maybe the battle, but not the war.” Rising on an elbow, she gave him a determined look. “Now, you can fight on your terms. Not Shui’s.”

“Those of us who survived are scattered across the universe, Taly, with no way of communicating without Shui being able to trace it.”

Her mind started to race. “There has to be a way.”

“There isn’t.

Taly opened her mouth to continue to argue, then closed it. She could see the fatigue bracketing his eyes and realized this conversation could wait. Ranvir was exhausted.

“You need to sleep.”

“I need something else more.” Tilting his hips, he let her feel the rigid line of his cock.

“Damn, that’s persuasive.” She couldn’t help rubbing against him, imagining how good it would feel to havethatinside her instead of one of the toys she usually used. It had been a long time since she’d been with a man. “Unfortunately, right now, you need sleep more than sex.”

Before he could argue, she laid her head on his chest, gently running a hand over it, and began to sing softly. She started with one of her favorite ballads, then moved on to another and another until she felt Ranvir’s body relax, as much as a cyborg’s body could, and he drifted off to sleep.

Rising slightly, she let her gaze travel over Ranvir, something she hadn’t had the time to do. If she had, she would have realized how long his eyelashes were. They were naturally longer than hers unless she was on stage wearing enhancers. They matched the darkness of the hair covering his head, long on the top, short on the side, although the ends were just a shade lighter. His eyebrows were dark slashes over eyes she knew were a golden brown.

His aristocratic nose and chiseled cheekbones made his lips appear softer and fuller. Taly couldn’t help but wonder if he’d been born with those features or if his transformation had made them that way.

She’d noticed changes in Nas’s features after becoming a cyborg. He’d broken his nose several times, so it had been crooked, but it was perfectly straight after his transformation. His cheekbones had also sharpened.

Her gaze traveled down the strong muscles of Ranvir’s neck, across his broad shoulders to his smooth, heavily muscled chest that rose and fell as he slept. She was used to seeing half-dressed, well-toned males. The dancers in her show had to be in great shape to complete the complex moves her choreographer created, but they were slouches compared to Ranvir.

Muscle after muscle tapered down his body, disappearing beneath his briefs. Her fingers itched to follow those muscles down. She regretted insisting he sleep for a moment, but then he snored softly, and she knew he needed this. When was the last time he’d been able to sleep?

As carefully as possible, she moved across the bed. His big body took up a lot of space. Finally, she reached the edge and slid out without waking him. With one last lingering look, she headed for the bathroom.
