“You killed my grandchild.”

“Grandchild?”

“That’s right—I can’t conceive anymore. My son put that baby in you, not me. It was our deal. He knocked you up; he could have what he wants most in this world—to leave and live his life a faggot.”

My eyes widen with disbelief. The baby had been Nicolas’? Was that whyhesent me the coffin? If he did, it wasn’t because he was upset about the loss of his baby. It was because I took the freedom he could’ve had. And Blake wanted to get rid of Milton anyway, so he used any excuse to do it.

But why? Especially if Blake didn’t know about Milton’s ulterior motive. Or does he? It’s not like I can ask him, anyway.

Taking out a packet of matches, Blake relights the tip of his cigar. I can taste the smoke in the back of my throat. “So, your mother covered it up to save her ass and put you away in that nutso place where Milton found you. You overdosed?”

I shift in the seat. “I wanted to die.”

“And why’s that?”

“Because I hate you.”

His boom of laughter shatters through me. But then he’s shooting out of his chair, his hand whipping out. The slap is hard. My skin stings afterward, my jaw paining. “Watch your fucking mouth, bitch, or I’ll choke you with my cock. We had something special. We made love.”

“You raped me.”

“I loved you.”

“You fucking raped me! You made Nicolas rape me. You’re all sick, evil, twisted people who deserve to die! Keep me tied to this chair because when I get the chance, Iwillfinally do what I keep failing to do—which is getting away from you for good!”

He chuckles. “Is that so?”

Getting up, he pulls the rope from around my ankles and wrists. Once they’re undone, he grabs the back of my neck and tugs me forward. I cry out when I collide with his chest, my hands going up to block his advance. “No!”

He sneers at me, his cigar-smelling breath wafting up my nose. “You’ve forgotten, haven’t you, baby? You can’t get away from me.”

Before I can retort something back, his lips crash against mine. I shriek, my hands thumping his shoulders to get him away as his tongue tries to pry my lips apart to let him in.

Knowing I’m not going to win, my teeth sink into his bottom lip. The metallic taste of his blood fills my mouth. With a growl, he pushes me back, my teeth unlatching. Lifting his hand, he wipes the blood away. Then, his boom of laughter fills the silence. “Kinky.”

He advances toward me again, but I stumble back. “No!”

“No?” He grabs me and throws me down on the floor. He’s over me in a second as I scream and thrash on the ground while he tries to grab my arms to pin them down.

“Blake—please!” I beg him.

“Yes, there she is.” His breath quivers as he catches my hands and keeps them down. “I’ve missed the sound of you screaming my name. I hate you for betraying me. You and that fucker wanted to end me—I should be killing you. Everyone’s wondering why I’m not. But you know why I’m not, don’t you?” He rubs himself against me, and tears fill my eyes. He groans, eyes rolling back. “Because you’remine. You’ll always be mine. I knew it since the day you walked into my clubhouse wearing that little dress. How your tight cunt made me explode.”

“I’m not yours.”

He chuckles. “I’ve lots of time to remind you.”

Getting off me, he gets to his feet. Confused, I stare up at him through blurred vision, not seeing his boot coming down until it’s slamming me in the chest. He does it again, near my stomach, knocking the breath out of me.

Oh, fuck—the pain. He’s beaten me many times, but he’s never kicked the shit out of me. Never this. “Blake…”

He breathes out heavily, and as I gaze up, he relights his cigar before pushing back his hair damp with sweat. “Get her upstairs. I’m too pissed off to fuck her tonight.”

Arms go under me. I’m being carried, and I can only guess by who. Especially when I’m set down on a bed. “You want to die, free bird?”

“Don’t you?” Nicolas is in the doorway of some bedroom, staring at me with a dark expression, his ash hair falling around his face. Clenching his jaw, he turns and leaves. He doesn’t have to say it. He wants to die, too. It’s the only thing me and him have in common.
