He raised an eyebrow. “Well, what?”

“I dunno,” I murmured uncertainly. “Who said it only has to be a fling?” I hid behind a careless shrug, as if Ihadn’tjust thrown my heart on the table and dared him to stomp all over it.

He chuckled. “Wha’? Isabelle, please. You can’t be serious.”

“I’m not saying we should be ‘official’ or anything. I’m just saying, I like you. And if you like me too, then maybe … it could be more than fling?” I shook my head vehemently. “Because I don’t want a ‘fling’ either.”

He huffed. “And how would we explain that to Johnny?”

“We wouldn’t have to. Not right away, at least. We could just see where things went. If things got more serious, then we could cross that bridge when we got there.”

“No,” he said, shaking his head. “Thingscan’tgo anywhere, Isabelle. You’re way too young for me.”

“I might be younger than you, but I’m still an adult. I’m not a child.”

“I know that. But you should be with someone closer to your age.”

“Don’t I have any say in that? I told you before, I don’t like boys my age. They’re so immature.”

“Give them time to grow up,” he said. “They will. Trust me.”

“I don’twantto wait for them to grow up. Why should I wait for someone else to mature when I already know what I want?”

He chuckled again, refusing to take me seriously. “You don’t want me, Isabelle.”

Oh, if only you knew how wrong you were.

“You think I sext guys I don’t want?” I asked rhetorically. “Because Idon’t.”

“Maybe not. But you post sexy pictures online. You don’t want all those guys who give you money, do you?”

“Of course not. But having an OnlyFans is not the same assextinga guy I like.”

Rust shrugged. “It’s not far off.”

“It’s totally different. One is for business. The other is intimate and personal.” My eyes narrowed. “Wait a minute. Do youhave a problem with the fact I’m on OnlyFans?”

“A problem? No, not really.”

But that ‘notreally’ part told me something about itwasbothering him. I could see it in his eyes.

“Yes, you do. I can tell. What is it, Rust?”

“It’s nothing.” He sighed. “But you just said one’s business and one’s intimate and personal—” Rust stopped talking and lowered his gaze.

“And?”

He had a hard time finding the words, but at last they came out. “Well, I guess I thought you were taking those pictures for me, not for a bunch of other men.”

Who knew Rust was such a sensitive guy? I didn’t, but finding out made my heart swell in my chest.

“Aw. Rust.” I ran my hand along his cheek, my palms skidding across his sandpaper stubble. “No one else saw the pictures I sent you. They were for your eyes only.”

His face scrunched up. “Huh? That’s not true. I saw them on your page.”

“No, you didn’t. You might’ve seen a few shots from the same photo set. But I picked out the very best pictures from those sets and saved them for you. Here, I can prove it to you.” I reached for my phone and opened my photo gallery. “See all the ones with the heart on them? That means I marked them as favorites. I set those aside just for you. I didn’t upload those. No one’s seen them but me and you.”

“I don’t get it. If they’re the best pictures, why didn’t you post them?” he asked.
