“Can you have your magical chemists analyze this?” I asked. Sebastian employed a lot of different warlocks for various reasons. I knew he worked with a lot of chemists. I ignored that as well, knowing that whatever Sebastian might peddle, it wasn’t anything that was going to take away someone’s will.

“They can certainly try.”

Sebastian cocked an eyebrow at me. “What is it?”

“How long do you think the effects of the mating drug lasts? If the bond mates don’t secure the bond?”

Sebastian shrugged. His nonchalance didn’t fool me.

“The hypothesis is that it eventually wears off, but nobody knows how long that takes. It’s not something we’ve thought a lot about at this point. We’ve mostly been concerned with how they’re producing it and how to counteract it after they have injected it. However, I can ask my chemist if it’s something you’d be interested in knowing.”

“I would appreciate it,” I said. I hoped that whatever his chemists found, it would be the proof I needed to ensure the bond between Claire and I was real.
