"Nothing can keep you down, Stephanie Collins."Jason caressed her hand and rubbed the silver rings on her fingers. It felt nice and yet she pulled free, not willing to go down that road again.

"I better get busy before your uncle comes back and sees me sitting down on the job.”

“Right.”Jason rose to his feet.“I hate to go, but when I have a day off I need to take care of everything I've neglected.Shopping, paying bills...”

She walked him to the entrance."Good luck changing Henry's mind—and don't forget, there's always plan B."

Jason paused by the front door, and even though she was five foot six to his six feet, he seemed to tower over her.His calm strength made him seen even larger."Let's hope we don't have to resort to that. You got any rope where you live?"

His dreamy blue eyes were captivating, and she swayed in his direction before righting herself and taking a step back.Oh yes, he was as tempting as ever. The old expression, once bitten, twice shy, lodged in her brain.

"I live upstairs in the loft above the store. And nope, no rope.Just a few whips and chains," she teased."There's a Home Depot right out of town if we need to pick up kidnapping supplies."

He laughed."I'd never have guessed you'd be into thatFifty Shades of Greystuff, but a few years can change a girl."He dropped his gaze, and she felt warm inside."I'll be sure to have a word with Heu.He's not as pig-headed as Henry."

"Yes, let's hope so."She touched his sleeve."Be sure to tell Kristin and your parents hello when you speak with them next."

"I will."

Their gazes locked and the years of resentment melted away, leaving the memory of their deep love and the joy they'd given each other. This inconvenient attraction would have to be harnessed. They had a mission to do, and she needed to remember that he was her yesterday, while the future loomed bright, filled with the fun and adventures she'd never had.

"I'll be back to finish our other conversation," he said softly, and the look in his eyes made her believe he would.

When the door closed behind him, Stephanie released a long breath. So many mixed emotions had come and gone in the hour that he’d been here. The only thing she was certain of was that if time travel existed, she'd be on the next flight.
