“It’s fine Cal; look I need a favor. I know your officers have a job to do, but they’re heading in a direction that I know to be false.”
“Which direction is that?” Niall took a deep breath and calmed himself down before answering. “I think they’re trying to imply that my wife was unfaithful, that she was having an affair. I don’t know why she was where they found her but I’m certain an affair had nothing to do with it.”
“I’ve already spoken to Detective Sparks, she knows if she can’t handle the situation to my satisfaction that she’s off the case. I’ll just have a word with her don’t you worry.”
“Thanks Cal, I don’t mean to come off as another privileged asshole but my children…”
“I understand say no more. I’ll take care of it you just take care of yourself. If there’s anything you need, anything at all, you have my number.”
“I know that, thanks again Cal, say hi to the family.”
The two men hung up, one in deep contemplation behind his desk in his plush office, the other standing in the middle of the room he once shared with his wife feeling lost.
