“We’re going to cause a scene sneaking off. Someone’s bound to notice,” Aaron teased.

“Let them. We’re man and wife,” Isabella said, throwing herself into Aaron’s arms.

He pulled her close. “I’m glad we decided to get married in the morning. It’s going to be a scorcher today.” He lowered his mouth to hers and kissed her.

Isabella sighed and melted against him. “I love you so very much.”

“And I love you, Isabella Garcia Bailey.” He grinned and then kissed her again.

“And not just because I have money?” she asked, laughing.

He held her at arm’s length. “As I told you, my father has a great deal more money than your father.”

“But that’s your father, not you.” She raised a brow as if daring him to contradict her statement.

“Well, it just so happens that upon my wedding day, I inherited a large trust my grandfather set up. So I don’t need your money. Feel free to spend it on whatever you like.”

“You inherited money because you married me?”

“I did.” He grinned. “And you inherited money because you married me.”

She laughed. “I did.”

He swept her into his arms once again. “But we both know that was never the reason for our union.” He nuzzled her neck. “You married me because you love my cologne.”

She giggled. “I’ve been found out.”

“Here you two are,” Mr. Bailey said.

Isabella jumped at the sound of her father-in-law’s voice and hurried to extricate herself from Aaron’s arms. Aaron would have none of it, however, and held her fast to his side.

“Hello, Father. You’re interrupting a very important conversation.” Aaron wagged his finger at the older man.

His father smiled. “I’m sure I am, but you have an entire town full of people who want to eat. I suggest you come and join them, since you are the guests of honor. You cantalklater.” He gave Aaron a wink, then turned and walked away.

Aaron’s mouth had dropped open, and Isabella laughed. “What’s wrong with you?”

“My father has never winked in his life. I don’t know whether to be shocked or delighted. He’s obviously pleased with all that’s happened.”

“So am I.” Isabella leaned against him with a smile. “So am I.”
