I laughed. “Yeah, I don’t know about that.”

My mom’s eyes flicked up to the ceiling, clearly frustrated with me. “Let’s start with the studio. What can you do there?”

“Honestly? Nothing.” I looked down at the coffee in my mug. The memories of the showcase, the way I had yelled at the novice girls, came flooding back and made me feel sick. I couldn’t believe I had spoken to them in that way. Fainting at the benefit was fresher in my mind, but at this moment, I regretted nothing more than the way I treated those poor girls.

My parents exchanged a glance. Scott took one of my hands in his. “I think you need to talk to Lisa about the burden she’s put on you. You don’t deserve all of this.”

I heaved a sigh. “I need to talk to her about Blake, anyway.” I pressed my lips together in defeat. “Fine. I have to go by the studio this afternoon to pick up some of the costumes. I’ll see if she’s there and we can talk.”

“Good. I’ll head home and grab some of my things while you’re gone.” Scott kissed me on the forehead. I looked over at my parents to read their reaction, but they didn’t give much away. I guessed they had spent a lot of time with Scott this morning and had some hint of an idea of his feelings towards me. “I love you, Ivy.”

Or he could just say it right in front of them.

I still didn’tknow, like he said, so I just smiled back at him. “Thank you.”
