“Okay, I have to know now,” Madison said.

“What?”

“The lucky shirt.”

“Nope. You offended me and the shirt.”

She turned her head and lifted up a little.

Showing me almost all of her breasts.

“You’re going to use your body to get what you want from me?” I asked.

“Haven’t I been doing that all along?”

“Good point,” I said. “Are you going to laugh at me when I tell you this story?”

“Definitely,” she said.

“You know, you are everything I wanted to avoid,” I said.

“Is that supposed to offend me?”

“I don’t know. I can’t believe I’m in your bed like this.”

“Where else would you rather be right now, Mav?”

“I would like to finish that photoshoot you ran out on,” I said. “Maybe you’ll get fired.”

“You want me to get fired?”

“I want you to take more pictures of weddings,” I said. “Watching you that night… you were really happy.”

“That part I don’t like at all,” she said. “You watching me like that. Like you really know me.”

“Or maybe I just want the team to hire a new photographer. Someone new to fuck.”

“You’re a piece of…”

I leaned in and kissed Madison.

She sighed and shook her head.

“So about my lucky shirt,” I said. “I wore that shirt when I was playing college hockey. I needed a shirt for something and I grabbed that on a discount rack at a store. So random, right? I stopped the game winning goal while wearing that shirt. Then for the hell of it I wore it when I had interest from agents and teams and all that stuff.”

“So every time you wear it, something good happens?”

“I didn’t wear it the night I met you.”

“That was something good?”

“That was something great, sweetie,” I said.

“Now you’re trying to be all sweet. Don’t do that.”

“Fine. A lot of athletes have superstitions like that. Mine is that shirt. It’s a lucky shirt for me.”

“But you’ve worn it and lost games, right?”
