She mouthedStop fucking looking at me!

I turned and jumped back into the celebration.

That’s when I realized my heart was racing faster from seeing Madison than it was from winning the game.

The next daywe finished an afternoon practice and I sat down in the locker room feeling a little exhausted.

Between hockey and hooking up in secrecy with Madison, my life was busy.

My body was busy.

The locker room door shut and in seconds, I was being surrounded.

Abel and Lay in front of me.

Matias and Reid on my left and right.

Remi leaned against a wall like the grumpy giant he was.

“Where’s Riff?” Lay whispered to Abel.

Abel turned his head. “Riff! Put the phone down. Get over here.”

“Don’t mind him, he’s probably paying for some woman to show up later and rub his dick for a few minutes,” Remi growled.

“Tough guy,” Riff said. “Want me to tell you what I’m really doing with my phone? Or should I just come over there and help to have your jaw wired shut?”

“You think you can break my jaw?” Remi asked. “I’ll give you ten punches. I’ll let you hit me with a hockey stick. You’re not breaking my jaw.”

“I can break your brain though,” Riff said. “Trust me, Remi.”

“I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean,” Remi said.

“You two, cut it,” Lay said. “This is an intervention for Mav.”

“Intervention?” I asked.

Oh, fuck. They know about Madison. Fuck.

“Yeah,” Lay said, looking at me again. “You’re screwing someone in secret.”

“Big deal,” I said. “I don’t ever talk about who I’m screwing.”

“You’re acting different,” Abel said.

“So are you,” I said. “Who would have ever thought you’d be married with a kid. Things change.”

“Yes, they do,” Riff said.

He smirked and glanced at Remi.

That’s when Remi pushed from the wall. “What the fuck are you getting at with these little comments?”

“Nothing,” Riff said.

“He’s screwing with you,” Abel said to Remi.

“Speaking of screwing,” Lay said.
