I yawned, blinking back the sleep and trying to crack my eyes open. It had been a long night with work at X-Rated, and then that fun trip to the hospital and practically straight off to Macy’s birthday without much of a breather in between.

I was completely exhausted.

And, so it seemed, was the sleeping beauty laying with her head on my chest and her arm across me snoring gently.

I couldn’t help but laugh softly, trying not to jostle her, but failing epically as she groaned and peeked up at me from beneath a set of fucking low, thick lashes. “Stop moving.”

“You want a pillow that doesn’t move, get one filled with feathers or something,” I threw back with a smirk. “I actually have to breathe.”

She groaned again, rolling off me and over onto her other side. “I worked like three nights straight so that I could fly up here for the weekend, as well as going to classes during the day,” she grumbled almost inaudibly. But what I did catch made me freeze for a moment.

“You didn’t tell me you had a job,” I noted, slowly and carefully, noticing the way her body tightened and got a little stiffer compared to the relaxed, sleepy goddess she’d been a few seconds earlier. “Does Leo know you have a job? Because I’m pretty sure he didn’t mention it either.”

She rolled herself off the bed, her feet landing with a thump on the floor. “Everyone will probably be back—”

“They’re already back. They came in about an hour ago.”

“I should go down and—”

“Meyah.”

The warning was there. I thought we’d just been through this.

What the hell kind of job would make her feel like she couldn’t tell me about it?

She looked down at me, her lips pursed and wrinkled up her nose. “It’s no big deal, you know.”

“So then you can tell me about thisno big deal.” I swung my legs over the side of the bed, already feeling a little better after letting my injury have some rest. I looked over my shoulder at her. “If I have to come round there…”

She pulled her lip in between her teeth. “All right, all right, Mr. Dramatic.” She folded her arms across her chest. “It’s a nightclub.”

There was more to it than that.

I got to my feet, taking several purposeful steps around the bed where she stood a little taller. She didn’t move away when I threaded my fingers through her hair, holding her close, knowing she could feel my cock pressing against her. It had been hard since I’d woken up to her body pressed against me, even though she was still completely dressed. She released her lip, her mouth falling open just slightly as I held her captive.

“You wouldn’t be missing a few details would you, fury fists?”

The smart ass little shit looked up at me and smirked like she knew what she was going to say next would rile me up, but she also knew she was going to love every moment I punished her for not telling me.

“It’s part strip club, part nightclub.”

My heart leaped into my throat at the thought of Meyah being on stage. Men watching her dance with some sexy kind of fucking outfit on her body showing off her perfect curves.

I leaned in. “Here’s where you tell me you only serve drinks, and that you’ve never been on that stage.”

I could already feel the way her body lit up with delight. Her breathing changed. Her body moved of its own accord.

Then she whispered back. “Here’s where I tell you I have… and, to be honest, I kind of liked it.”

A growl came like a low hum in my throat, and her body instantly reacted. A shudder started at the bottom and worked its way up her spine.

“Other men, looking at you shake your ass on a stage?”

“I’m not really a shaker,” she retorted, the corner of her mouth twitching.

Damn. This fucking woman had really stepped up her game since she’d been gone. Looking me in the eye. Calling me out.

“I tend to sway.” She moved her hips, twisting them from side to side, pushing forward so the front of her jeans swiped across my cock.
