Gripping her chin, I look into her eyes. “No. More. Sorries.”

Athena sniffles. “No more.”

“That’s my girl.”

A light tap on the bathroom door draws our attention and Todd sticks his head in.

“Your security detail is getting antsy.”

“Tell them we’ll just be a minute. Remind them we’re newlyweds.”

Athena giggles. “They’ll think we’re having sex.”

“Better that than I locked you in a bathroom, and now you’re crying.”

Todd barks out a laugh and shuts the door.

“You didn’t lock the door,” states Athena.

“No, I saw Todd walking toward us. I thought maybe if I scared you, you’d tell me what was wrong. I’m so glad you did.”

Athena scrambles off my lap and turns on a faucet to wash her face. Picking up a small face towel, I hand it to her, and she pats her face dry.

“I’ve made a mess of things, haven’t I?”

Staring at her blotchy face in the mirror, I shake my head and put my arms around her, so her back is to my front. “No, I just wish you’d shared your burden sooner.”

“I didn’t know how. When I didn’t see him again, I thought we’d be safe in LA.”

“Babe, you’re going to have to start from the beginning.”

“You’re going to be late.”

Nodding, I kiss the top of her head. “Give me a minute.”

Walking out of our bedroom and into our living room, I find a four-man team and Todd.

“Good morning, Mr. Livingston. I’m Charles Dornot. I’m the head of your security team. This is Frank, Tony, and Mikey. Are you ready to go?”

“Change of plans. I’m not going in today.” My cell phone is in my pocket, so I pull it out.

“I’m sorry, sir, but don’t you have filming today?” asks Charles.

“Charles? Charlie?”

“Charles, sir.”

“Charles, call me Kris. No, my wife isn’t well, and I need to take care of her. I’ll be ready for pickup tomorrow.”

“The studio didn’t mention you’d be out of rotation today,” he states with a smile.

Poor Charles has obviously been assigned to be my bodyguard or, for a better term, babysitter while I’m on set. His job is to make sure I’m safe and on time. It’s day one, and I’m already making his job hard. Holding up a finger, I dial Andy Weston and walk outside to the patio.

“Hello?”

“Andy, it’s Kris.”

“Kris, are you on your way?”
