Epilogue

Todd

The next month flew by as we all had to recount the events at Big Bear. Kris and Athena gave a series of interviews, and I was offered a job at the LAPD. I’ve always enjoyed working and living in Boothbay, but in the City of Angels, I found love.

Claude found me the day after the ambush. He was insistent we go on a date so I could give him every gory detail. After that, he kept finding reasons for me to meet him, and finally, I was spending all my time with him. Now I can’t imagine my life without the tall, dark, handsome man.

Much to TB’s dismay, Shannon stayed in LA too. She’s been doing interviews nonstop since the shootout and was even onThe View. There’s talk they’re going to make her a regular. She and Clive have been seeing each other, and, so far, they seem like the perfect couple. Shannon also scored herself a modeling contract with a plus-size agency that adores her style.

Kris was asked to go back to work on the film but declined. His lawyer sorted out a hefty payday, and he, Athena, and Lulu went back to the house at Big Bear to oversee repairs. He’s also building her a small studio at the back of the property so she can have her own space to write. Although knowing Kris, it won’t be small.

The ending to her book all came together once the drama of her situation sorted itself out. As with most of Athena Goddess’ books, it will no doubt be another bestseller.

Shannon is living in their home in LA, and I’m in the guesthouse by myself. Well, except for when Claude stays over, which is almost every night.

Athena and Kris are making up for lost time. Neither wants to be without the other, and both are content to be away from the limelight. The only loose end was Athena’s home in Boothbay which she didn’t want to part with. Her parents said they’d keep an eye on it, but Kris felt it needed someone staying there to keep it safe. I agreed with him. After much discussion, it was decided they would rent the cottage. Kris, being Kris, and wanting to please his bride, hired movers to pack up all of Athena’s belongings and store them at her parents’ home. Right now, he’s all about spending time with Athena and keeping her to himself so he didn’t want her going back to Boothbay. Personally, I think it’s a good thing, all she needs to concentrate on is her, Kris and Lulu and the life they are going to have. My replacement as deputy will move in to take care of the house, much to everyone’s relief.

They’ve pulled through this ordeal and are all the stronger for it.

Will Kris go back to acting?

I think so.

But perhaps not for a while. He’s making sure Athena is safe and healthy, both mentally and physically.

Their love is powerfully overcoming everything life throws at them.

And I often hear one of them say,“Where you go, I follow,”and the other will say,“Always.”

THE END
