“She does.” His eyes sparkle.

“What does she think?”

He smirks. “She told me I better make you spaghetti because it’s your favorite.”

I giggle. He pushes out of the chair and pulls me up with him. “Come on, exit out of your stuff and let’s go eat.”

We share a grin. I turn back to my rig, close out of stuff, and lock my screen. You learn early on when you work with men-children to always lock your computer when you’re not around.

A key slides into the lock, and then it swings open. Matt and Chuck stroll in.

“Hey, guys,” I greet them as I flip off the light on my desk.

“Hi,” Chuck says as he makes a beeline to his own rig. He’s such an odd guy. Nice, but odd. Sometimes I completely forget about him. He never hangs out with us outside of gaming, but it’s probably for the best. He has a hard time fitting in with large groups of people. But he’s a hell of a gamer.

“Benny, Benny, Benny. Long time no see.” Matt struts over to the kitchen and pulls out an energy drink. My goodness, this is at least his second since we went shopping.

“Hey, Matt.” I laugh and push in my chair.

“I had a good time with you this afternoon.”

I know he slides that comment in for the sole purpose of making Wade jealous, and it hits its mark. Wade bristles next to me. I can’t help but snort out a laugh. I risk it and snag Wade’s hand and tug him forward. His fingers intertwine with mine.

“He took me grocery shopping. It was quite the adventure, seeing how many energy drink flavors he could find and fit into his cart.”

Wade grunts as I pull him through the room. I look at Matt, and his eyes dart away from our hands. He catches my gaze and sends me a wink. Damn, the man knows no bounds

“Bye, Benny-Boo,” he sings.

I open the door and push Wade out into the hall.

“I can’t fucking stand that guy,” Wade grumbles.

I giggle. “Stop it. He’s harmless.”

Wade narrows his eyes at my claim.

“For real,” I insist. “He says that crap just to get under your skin. He’s feeding off the negative reinforcement you provide him. Every time.”

He mutters something unintelligible. But he yanks me back and pulls me right up to his chest.

“Then maybe I need to do this in front of him next time. Make sure he understands his efforts are in vain.”

“Do wha—”

He cuts me off with a searing kiss.

And suddenly, the idea of hiding us doesn’t seem to bother him anymore as we’re standing right outside his apartment door.

The door swings open, and I hear, “Well, shit on a stick, look at that.”

I pull back slightly, and Wade rolls his eyes at Simon’s surprise.

“I left something in the game room. If I could just slip on by, you can carry on.” And he does just that.

I bury my face in Wade’s chest slightly embarrassed. Wade runs a hand up my back.

“Come on, let me make you spaghetti.” And we go into his apartment, and I watch him make me the most amazing dinner I’ve had in months.
