I had no idea how the club owner would clean up after this mess.

But I didn’t care.

Worried about just one thing, one person, I halted by the sidewalk a few feet from the confusion and searched.

My friends came to my side.

“What happened?” Killian asked. “Who were those demons?”

I shifted my face and arms back to normal. “Those were Conri’s lackeys.”

“Conri?” Lavinia frowned. “Who's Conri?”

“The half-demon, half-wolf who massacred my pack.” Only, that wasn’t entirely true, was it? Not all of my pack had been killed that night.

Minsi, Tyren, and Raika were alive.

“What?” Twyla’s eyes bugged. “What were they doing here? How did they find you?”

“I don’t think they were after me,” I told them. I stared at my friends. They didn’t know the entire story. It was too painful to tell, even to remember it. “I think they were guarding someone else.”

The demons seemed protective of Raika. I tried reasoning, but all I could think was that she was at a nightclub with Conri’s demons, wearing that damn sexy dress. Did she have some kind of deal with Conri?

My chest hurt. Perhaps she was his woman now.

No, it couldn’t be. Could it?

“Who?” Lavinia asked.

I swallowed, still having a hard time believing it myself. “My mate.”

Killian stared at me as if I had grown an extra head. “What?”

Right … I had never told them about my mate.

To be honest, I had only told my mother about Raika.

I felt defeated. I had lost her long ago, but tonight, I had lost her again.
