CHAPTER7

Bound to Breed~Brooklyn

Carter askedfor the third time why I decided to sleep with him for money, and I eventually gave in to his request. I told him everything, from my foster childhood to Lincoln's most recent arrest. When I finished spilling the beans of my shit life, I felt exhausted, exposed, and ashamed. I spent the past half hour digging up every traumatic experience that held me together and laid it out for a complete stranger to digest, a super hot and sexy stranger, but a stranger. I lowered my eyes to the duvet and waited for the tears to cascade over my lashes. The bed dipped as he stood and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the hotel garden. The air stilled, and he let his shoulders rise and then fall as a heavy sigh dripped off his lips. I wondered what he was thinking? Feeling? Did my sad life story really dampen the mood? His attention turned back toward me, and he sauntered across the room. I tugged at the duvet, pulling it up to my eyes as he removed his boxers and tossed them in the trash can near the bathroom door. I wondered if he had come when he yelled my name along with a string of curse words as he lifted me off his mouth.

He left the master bedroom, but only for a second before returning with his phone in hand. Walking over to my side of the bed, he lowered himself and my eyes locked on the monstrous flesh commanding my attention. He scrolled through the apps, and my mind went into a frenzy when he pressed the gold and black icon. Crap. I shouldn't have talked about my personal life. I should have brushed it off and kept it professional. He typed in a few things before setting the phone on the nightstand. I bit the inside of my cheek and wracked my brain for some sort of apology for ruining the mood when I heard my phone buzz. He nudged me to grab it, and when my eyes locked on the screen, my chest bottomed out. Contract with Carter Castle extended and locked for 10 months.

I looked up at him, surprised at the soft expression on his otherwise hard and chiseled face.

"I don't understand," I stuttered.

His eyes shifted from their softer state, and hunger revived them as he held my gaze.

"You need money, and I've got money. As a matter of fact, check your bank account. I made the first direct deposit."

"First?" I asked as I thumbed through the apps on my home screen. My mouth dropped open at the $5,955 staring back at me. Fucking forty-five dollar overdraft fee. "Why are you doing this for me? This couldn't be because you feel sorry for me."

His stare penetrated my soul. "Because I need a child. An heir and you are going to give me an heir."

I sat there for a minute, my head dizzy with all of this. The money. The suggestion. I mean, it's not really a suggestion. The contract was initiated. Carter Castle wanted to get me pregnant, and he was willing to pay. I needed the money. That was a no brainer, but did I really want to go through this? Ten months was a long time to spend with someone I was attracted to but had no desire to be with me in the long run.

I sat up; the chilled air wrapped around me and shivered down my spine. "Is this why you asked me if I was attracted to you? Because you wanted to breed me?"

"Nope." He popped the "p" and stood. "I asked if you were attracted to me because I plan on keeping you forever," he said as he eased in to stroke a finger across my cheek.

"Then why the contract?"

He placed his back in my direct line of sight and walked to the door, stopping just before passing the threshold that separated the bedroom from the rest of the suite.

"So you'll stay. I'm a busy man, and trust me, baby girl, you don't want me to chase after you. I always find what's mine."

"Oh…" I let my words trail off as I digest his promise.

He winked. "Get dressed. It's late. I'll have my driver take you home, and I'll talk to you first thing tomorrow."

"I can get an Uber its—"

"Over my dead body. You're my little girl now, and daddy said you're taking the car." He yelled from the other room.

I slumped back into the soft pillows and gazed up at the cathedral ceiling. I had no idea what I was supposed to be feeling now, but at least the worry of money was no longer weighing me down.
