Her skin heated far beyond the temperature of the sun. He could seduce her so easily. “What exactly do you have in mind?”

“This.” He kissed his way down her throat, slipped her swimsuit straps down her arms. He licked and lightly pinched her breasts, bringing her nipples to hard peaks. The pull of desire reached straight to her center as he kissed all the way to her belly, dragging the suit with him. She held up her leg, and he tugged it off, letting it hang from one knee. Then he spread her legs with his strong, warm palms and feasted on her.

If a helicopter flew over, she never heard it as she threw her head back and clasped him hard between her thighs. His tongue was like liquid gold, heating her up to a fever pitch with the slow roll of his fingers inside her. She cried out, shook and shimmied and shivered until her voice rose to a wail, her climax shooting through her body.

She was naked in the open air, and she didn’t care. When he crawled back up her body, she rolled with him, shaking the bathing suit off and sitting astride him. He played with her breasts, and she went to the tie of his swim trunks. He was rigid as she palmed him, then she shoved the trunks down his legs.

“How old did you say you were?” she asked with a twinkle in her eye.

“Fifty-six.”

She took him in her mouth, all the way down and slowly back up. “You must have popped Viagra when I wasn’t looking.”

His belly laugh made his stomach muscles tremble. “Around you, I don’t need any help.”

He’d certainly demonstrated that over and over.

She took him again, just the tip, until he groaned and all his laughter fell away. He tangled his fingers in her hair, and she reached below to squeeze him the way he liked.

She made love to him with her mouth and her tongue and sometimes the slight graze of her teeth or a squeeze of her hand. When he was close, she backed off, bringing him down, prolonging the seductive tease.

Until finally he held her head in his hands, showing her the rhythm he craved. He squeezed his legs tight around her as his body shook. Then he filled her mouth, a low groan falling from his lips.

She didn’t let him go until he latched onto her arms and pulled her up. “Enough. Can’t take anymore. Too damn good.”

She crawled up his body, lying flat on him, breast to chest. He kissed her then, sharing his taste on her tongue and lips.

“I may be crazy,” he said softly, sweetly. “But I love you. I never stopped loving you. And I won’t let this end, no matter how we have to manage it.”

“I love you so much, Xandros. I don’t care if we can only see each other a couple of times a year. I’ll take whatever I can get.”

He trapped her face in his hands. “Twice a year will never be enough. Maybe you will be here six months, and I come to you six months. It doesn’t matter. We will make it work.”

Reality washed over her, bringing goose bumps to her skin despite the heat. “I still need to tell Sienna about you before we plan anything.”

“When?” he whispered.

She took a deep breath, held it, drew on all her courage. “Tonight.”

The thought made her queasy, but it had to be done. She couldn’t wait until they got home. After the stunt Donald had pulled, sabotaging Sienna’s interview, when he learned that she still planned on Smithfield and Vine rather than taking a job with him, he would rain down retribution on them both.

Xandros pulled her close for a tight hug.

Her heart and her soul shouted that he was right. They would never be parted again.

Períssa Beach, with its coarse black sand, was everything Xandros had said. Cafés and tavernas and restaurants abounded. They rented loungers and ordered drinks from a beach bar. The sun was hot and the water deliciously cool.

Carter had taken the lounger next to hers and helped her slather on sunblock. She willingly smoothed it all over him, loving the feel of his skin beneath her fingertips. When the sun became too much, they took a walk, and she snapped photos of their footprints in the black sand, the rows of colorful sunbathers, a lone towel on the beach with someone’s hat sitting atop it, a blue-domed church gleaming in the distance.

They headed back to their loungers, and as she lay next to Carter, he curled his hand around hers. “It was the biggest stroke of luck that you and your mom were staying in the villa below ours.”

She smiled, her eyes crinkling against the blaze of the sun. “You’re just happy we got a tour guide all to ourselves.”

His laugh was soft, seductive. She loved the way Carter laughed. He wasn’t loud and rowdy, but toned down in everything he did. And she liked that. She liked that they could sit in the background with no one bothering them while the others shouted and laughed in the sea, body surfing, throwing each other into the waves. Not that Carter didn’t like to share in the fun as well, but he was understated, more like her.

Still chuckling, he teased her. “You just like me for my hot tub.”
