“Take a minute to think about it. You wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side of this. Imagine what your members would say if you lost the club to me—in a poker game. Take all the time you need, Outlaw. No rush.”

I know Enzo so well that the way he is talking and bouncing his leg under the table shows me he is nervous. He is afraid of losing me to a biker who works jobs for him. He will say anything to change Outlaw’s mind from playing. If Outlaw plays, Enzo won’t make it easy on him, I’m his prized possession.

Outlaw takes a deep breath and rests his elbows on the table, leaning towards Enzo. “I’m in,” he boldly says. Jason and Kevin gasp at his words.

“Now this is a game I wouldn’t want to miss for anything,” says Eva in a happy tone, clapping her hands.

My heart is pounding in my chest. I wish that Enzo would let me have a say, not that he would listen to me. Everything about this game is wrong. I look at the exit, it’s not far. I could run really fast. But what then? Even if I make it outside, where would I go with no money or ID? I’m trapped.

“Understand that once the game starts, you can’t change your mind. You have to play till the end and pay with the same spirit you asked for your prize in,” says Enzo, calmly.

“I understand the fucking rules, Enzo. Let’s get this over with.” Outlaw sounds tense.

He rubs his palms together as he sharply exhales and runs his fingers through his short hair. Enzo smiles looking at him. He is composed and confident. Everyone in the table knows there’s a very good chance Enzo will win because we have seen him play but then again, we have never seen Outlaw play. No one would be dumb enough to make such a bet if he didn’t know what he was doing. However, there are men who would surrender everything they have at a chance of getting the girl they admire.

“I agree. I am so excited. I can’t wait to see how this goes,” Kevin says eagerly.

Enzo has the poker dealer set up a poker game for two players. Everyone gets closer so we can’t miss a detail. We all have drinks in our hands, sipping in anticipation and longing for the end. Especially me, it’s my life on the line.

“Changing the club’s name and logo is the first thing I will do. The logo will be something about me, my face maybe. And you? What are you going to do with her?” Enzo asks as the poker dealer sets up the game. Outlaw’s eyes are on every move the poker dealer makes. It is understandable since Enzo is a regular at the casino and the poker dealer can easily and swiftly slide him a card.

“It’s too soon to be counting your chickens, Enzo.”

“I think it’s the perfect time. Let’s do this.” Enzo rubs his palms against each other with his eyes on the cards.

I don’t want to watch but I can’t peel my eyes off the table. Just like everyone else, I want to see how this goes. However, I will be the only one to suffer if either of them wins. I know Enzo will be upset for thinking he could have lost me and it will be a long, tedious, and pain-filled night for me if I leave with him. And Outlaw, I don’t even want to think what he will do to me after all the tension he has had to deal with.

As anticipated, Enzo wins the first round. I find myself sighing in relief, too loud that Enzo hears me.

“Don’t worry, Pumpkin. You will be going home with me tonight and we can celebrate in whatever nasty ways come to mind,” he comforts me, gently rubbing my head.

Outlaw glares at Enzo, but says nothing.

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you, Outlaw. Maybe next time learn to listen to your elders because we have been around for a very long time. We know exactly how things work.”

Outlaw doesn’t respond. He looks disturbed and restless, looking at the cards like they wronged him. He rubs what I assume is sweat off his palms on his knees. What were you thinking, Outlaw? You might be the craziest law-breaking goon out there but that doesn’t mean you are capable of beating the poker king at the one thing he is good at.

“You shouldn’t have messed with the shark, kiddo,” says Kevin. “But it’s too late for that now. Carry on. I will be escorting Enzo to the clubhouse to see just how big and worthwhile the club is.”

“Oh, you are going to love it. The bikes, the energetic men, I have never been at the club house but I don’t mind doing renovations here and there.”

The poker dealer confirms Enzo’s win and the game proceeds. I can’t help but wish there was a third party who was a poker shark playing for my freedom. Then, it would have been much easier to pick a side.

The tension at the table is making time seem like it is not moving. Outlaw hasn’t said a word since the game started. Maybe that’s just his way of maintaining his focus or he doesn’t have the confidence to say anything given his loss.

I never paid attention to the games when we’ve come to the casino before, I’m not sure how this is going. Now I wish I had, but none of the games held my attention like this one has.

Outlaw sips on a glass of whiskey as he eyes his cards. This is going to end in a disaster for you Outlaw. He’s a damned fool to think he could come in here and place such a bet and all because of his pride.

“Let me describe her to you for when you sleep alone in your bed tonight,” says Enzo.

Please don’t. My pleading thought does nothing.

“Her lips are soft and plump. She knows how to use her mouth and tongue on my cock. Her skin is baby soft and prickles when I run my hands all over her. Her tits are something else and she’s blessed with nipples that when erect could poke your eye out,” Enzo tells him and the rest of the table.

“For goodness sake, Enzo, the poor thing is right next to you,” Eva defends.

I stare down at the floor, trying to distract myself from Enzo with my thoughts but his voice is crystal clear. Every word he says is like a needle piercing through my flesh. I feel a tear falling on my cheek. I am quick to wipe it away, but I assume he already saw it given his next words. “See, she has a soft child’s heart too.”
