Could Matty Melgren be innocent?

If Melgren is innocent then the world is flat and Scientology is the one true religion. This is just a ploy to stir up interest before A Mask For All Seasons hits our screens– not mine, I may add. No way I’m watching a film that glamorises a vile predator like that.
Matty Melgren was a manipulative psychopath who got off on other people’s pain and conned everyone he knew into believing he was just a regular guy. Watch Sessions with a Psycho, the look in his eyes when the interviewer asks about his victims. It tells you all you need to know. The man is pure evil.

I honestly think he might be innocent. When you look at the court transcripts, you can see that the evidence against Matty was basically all circumstantial. Plus, the witness statements are very conflicting in terms of the offender’s appearance and the shoes he was wearing.
I can’t help wondering if maybe it’s a case of mistaken identity??
On top of all that, he EXPRESSED SYMPATHY FOR THE FAMILIES:
“The victims weren’t the only people who suffered, their families have suffered horribly too. In some way their pain is actually worse, given the length of time it has gone on for. But locking up the wrong person is hardly going to give them the closure they need.”
Does that really sound like something an evil person would say? I don’t think so.
