Sam

Ihated myself for the rash decision I made years ago, but Ivy was right. We didn’t know how life would have turned out if I’d not ignored her.

When we made it back to my house, I swung her into my arms and marched up the stairs.

I kicked the closed door to my room open. “I’m not sure if I’ll let you out of here for days.”

Her giggles filled the room. “That sounds like fun, but fur babies need me, so we’ll have to take breaks.”

“You’re moving in this weekend. We’ve been apart for too many years. I know what I want, and that is to wake up with you in my arms each morning.”

She sighed. “I have a son. I can’t just leave him.”

I cupped her cheeks. “Benji is coming with you as well. This house is large enough for him and for your other boys to visit. Do you want to keep discussing the future, or can I taste that sweet pussy? It’s been years.”

Her pupils dilated, and I was positive she felt the same for me as I did for her. “As long as I get to taste you too.” She captured her bottom lip between her teeth, and the small action made my dick harder, which I didn’t think was possible. “I’m not like I was before—I’ve had three kids, and carry scars.”

I ran my finger along her jaw. “Those things only make you sexier. I don’t want a thirty-year-old model. The only thing my body craves is you. Each time I came into the clinic, I’d have to jack off when I got home.”

She placed a quick kiss on my lips. “You came in a lot lately.”

“I’d contemplated asking you out on a date. The reason for the breakup I now know was a lie still felt valid, but I’d missed you and was trying to get over the betrayal. We are moving fast, but Ivy, I’ve lost too many years with you.”

“Okay, is this the part where we talk about condoms?” she asked.

“I’m clean. Doc had me in for a physical and bloodwork weeks back.” Time felt like it had stopped, as Ivy didn’t say a word. “If you want them, we can. I’m not forcing you to do anything.”

She shook her head. “No condoms. I’m clean, and when I had Benji, the doctor tied my tubes. Even if he didn’t, I’m going through menopause, so we should be good. We really going to do this?”

“Have mind-blowing sex,” I grunted, “with nothing between us? If it’s up to me, yes.”

“Sam?” She looked at me questioningly. I let her take a step back and immediately hated the distance she put between us.

“Yes, my flower?”

Her breath hitched at the nickname I’d used for her years ago. Everything felt right.

“It’s been a really long time since I had…”

My lips twisted into a smile. “Sex?”

I moved closer to her so I could run my hand along her soft skin.

“Does that mean you're tight, and I’m going to have to spend some time between your legs with my mouth and fingers?” I wrapped my arm around her and tugged her close. Her nipples pebbled through the thin shirt. I trailed my lips along her jaw to the sensitive spot right below her ear. I nipped her skin before I whispered into her ear, “I need you so bad.”

A whimper escaped her lips as I ground my hips against her. She snaked her arm around my neck and pulled me into a kiss.

I cupped her full breasts as our tongues tangled together. Every few seconds, little moans would escaped her mouth. God, she was perfect, and I wanted to taste every inch of her body. I pulled back, breaking the kiss. Before she could complain, I tugged her T-shirt over her head and quickly pushed down her jeans. Her hands went to her midsection to cover her scars.

“Stop.” I batted her hands away so I could gaze at her gorgeous body. “You’re even sexier than I remembered, and this right here”—I ran my hand over the scar on her lower stomach—“does not turn me off. We all wear the battle wounds from our life. This just tells a story of what you went through, and it was having a beautiful boy. Wear your scars like a badge of honor.”

“Do you have scars?” Ivy asked.

“Yes.”

She dragged her fingers across the long scar down my side. My last overseas mission hadn’t gone as planned, and the enemy stabbed me and left me to die. I still didn’t know how Private Jefferson got me back to the medical tent. When I was on the ground dying, I’d had many regrets. One was not talking to Ivy, and I told myself I would when I came back. But when I came home, she was married. I’d lost my chance.
