Kat continued on. “I love the idea of making this place a safe spot for wounded warriors who need a place to recover. Doing that to the level you have in mind, you will need help. The Ross Foundation runs two women’s shelters in Florida. We also have relationships with one in California and one in Texas. Many women in these centers need new jobs and a new start.”

I blinked, trying to figure out her plan.

Kat continued. “I think these women can come work for you. Many need protection or need to learn to be around men again. The men you are trying to help have a mixture of problems, but I can guarantee if they saw a woman in need, they would help.”

I nodded. “This all sounds good, but some will have bad PTSD and could hurt one of the women by accident.”

Antonio nodded. “This was a concept in our head, and we naturally need to work out the kinks. So many of the women need an escape from their current situations are the same. They would come here until they could get on their feet. You’re going to need cooks and cleaners. Plus, the center has women from a wide range of backgrounds. One of the women is a doctor running from her abusive husband. We’ve even had psychiatrists come to the center for help.”

“I like the idea, but I don’t have housing for that many people.”

The only man in a suit leaned forward. “I’m Alex. The housing is where I can help. You have tons of land, sir. I can make this happen without looking like we turned this place into an apartment complex. I’ve also run numbers on the town. Your idea, along with ours, would help many of the locals.”

“I’d have to think about all of this.” I was close to saying yes, but they wanted to increase my original idea tenfold.

Zack stood up and stretched. “I’m just a silent partner or a name you can drop when you need something. I plan to spend the weekend relaxing. I’m going to go walk around.”

Antonio ran a hand over his face. “I’m sorry I sprang this on you. I really thought it would just be my wife and me. I know this can get a little overwhelming with all of us.”

They could make my dream come true.

“I’m not. There were a lot of good ideas, but I do need a second to think them all through.” After Jaxson gave me Antonio’s name, I learned he owned one of the top security companies in the world. “I was wondering if you could give me the name of a reputable company to call if I need to run a background check or search for someone.”

Kat’s brows drew together. “We’re about to go into business together. I had my sister run your background, and your sons’. By the way, those boys are doing a good job in the military. I bet I can answer your question with one look in the folder.”

“It’s not for me. I have a friend getting harassed by Louis Lucchese.”

“He’s not one you want to fuck around with. You have any information for me?” Antonio asked.

I wrote down the license plate number and Ivy’s ex-husband’s name.

“I’ll look into this,” Antonio said he would make some calls and have information ready for me later.

I sighed as they left the room. I still wanted Ivy at the house, but I had the animals to take care of. There was still a chance she would make me search for her, because from the stubborn look in her eyes when I left, she’d come up with her own plan.
