“Hannah.” Heat stole up his neck and his eyes went wide.

And now she was actually making him blush. Wrong place for this kind of novelty.

“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything about it until we get home tonight.”

And with that promise lingering in the air, the next few hours were about to get even rougher.

By the time they were on her parents’ doorstep and had rung the bell, he was more than nervous.

The door swung open and an older couple stood inside.

“Anyounghahsaeyo, Umma and Abba. This is my friend, Eric.”

“Mr. and Mrs. Jeong.” Eric bowed in greeting, keeping his smile warm as he straightened again. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both.” He thrust his hands forward that held the gifts. “We brought fruit. And a plant.”

We brought fruit and a plant?

Could he possibly have sounded more awkward? He felt like Baby when she’d announced she’d carried a watermelon in the movie, Dirty Dancing.

“Oh, thank you. That’s very sweet of you.”

He must’ve done something right, because Hannah’s mom made eye contact with her daughter. Delight and surprise were clear in her gaze.

“Please, come in.”

Not a bad start.

Eric followed Hannah in, praying the rest of the dinner went well.
