She took him in her mouth, thrilled at the guttural sound he made. Continued to make as she brought him closer to the edge of release. She hadn’t really explored him with her mouth this thoroughly. Learned the shape of him and how deep she could take him.

It was just as intoxicating to her as it was to him, she sensed. Maybe more so.

The muscles of his abdomen contracted against her fingers, and he pulled her away suddenly, and she knew it was because he was close to coming.

“Give me two seconds.”

It seemed like forever while he went to put on the condom, but then he was back, lifting her and sliding her onto his thick erection.

Her eyes crossed with pleasure and her head fell back. With her legs wrapped around his waist, he thrust deep into her while kissing the sensitive spot on her neck.

While supporting her with just one hand, he used the other to find her swollen clit. They came within seconds of each other. It was becoming more common as they learned each other’s bodies and how they responded to pleasure.

When they finished their shower and crawled into bed, Eric fell asleep within minutes. But now, with the physical needs out of the way, the emotional ones kept Hannah awake.

She needed to bring Wentworth down. And she would.

First off? Figure out what happened to that wife of his who was ‘no longer in the picture,’ as he’d put it. Because going by what she’d seen already from this sick freak, chances were there was some dirt there.

By the timeEric woke up, she’d compiled a spreadsheet of info on Stoddard Wentworth.

Eric blinked blearily as she filled him in. He poured himself a cup of coffee, trying to keep up.

“I’ve got a list of links to any and all articles that have mentioned Wentworth online.” She leaned against the counter and took a sip of her own coffee before setting the mug back down.

Her blood pounded with adrenaline and she leaned forward to share the juiciest news. “The out-of-the-picture wife who he said left for another man is actually dead. Her name was Rhonda, and she was killed in a kayaking incident three years ago.”

He took a sip of coffee and stared at her. “That doesn’t sound suspicious or anything.”

“Right? It’s horrible either way. But my gut tells me the creep killed her.”

Eric didn’t answer right away, and he seemed to be choosing his words carefully. “I mean, it’s possible. But we can’t prove any of this. I’m sure the police already investigated.”

She waved her hand and shook her head. “They probably had no reason to doubt his story. I’m going to keep digging while you’re at work today.”

“I wish I didn’t have to go in. Also, I’m meeting James for lunch.”

“Oh?” Surprise and a hint of anxiety raced through her. But beneath it, relief. No more hiding this relationship in the shadows. “I think this is a good thing. Or it will be eventually. He might be upset initially.”

“Might?”

“You’re right. He will be. But I know James, and he’ll heal. If anything, it’ll be his pride that stings the most. Where are you guys going to lunch?”

“Barney’s.”

“Ah.” The place where she’d run into Eric when she’d been out celebrating her birthday.

That night had set off a whole chain of events that had ended with the relationship they were in now.

Her stomach warmed and a smile played on her lips.

It seemed Barney’s—that flashy pub with mediocre salads—might have maneuvered a place into her heart when she thought about it.

“Have a cotton candy martini for me.”

He laughed. “Another time when I’m not on the job. And I’d probably make it a Manhattan.”
