“I had to take the detective job.” He turned us around and pressed my back against the front door. “It comes with handcuffs.” He kissed his way down my neck to the pulse in my throat.

I shivered from the sparks shooting down my spine. “I was going to finish the dishes.”

“Leave them. We’ll both finish them in the morning. I have other plans for you tonight.”

“Do you now?” I wiggled out of his grasp. “Because it turns out, I have a little gift for you.”

He looked me up and down. “I hope it’s something for you to wear. Something lacy, mostly see-through.”

“Actually, it’s something for you to wear.”

He followed me to the kitchen, where I retrieved a small red bag from a lower kitchen cupboard and handed it to him.

He grinned. “Something very small for me to wear.” He peeked inside the bag and laughed. “Was this in case I chose the chef option after all?” He hooked his finger around his gift and pulled out the pink, fuzzy handcuffs.

I snapped one of the cuffs around his wrist and pulled him by the other one toward the bedroom. “I’ve already measured the bed posts.”

“I wish I would have been here to watch that.” He tugged me close to him and backed me against the wall. “You know how much I love seeing you in our bed.”

“I know. Since the first time you brought me here, you thought I belonged in what was then your bed. As I recall, you even dressed me in clothes to match your room.”

“That was purely coincidental.” He slid his hand under my blouse and gripped my waist, running his fingers slowly upward. “My only real thought was getting you into that tight white tee shirt.”

I nibbled his lower lip. “After I cuff you to the bed post, I’ll model any shirt you want.”

“Dressed, undressed, bikini, parka, I don’t care.” He ran his uncuffed hand down my cheek. “As long as the woman I love is here when I wake up in the morning.”

“I’ll be here because I love you, too. Now, don’t wear yourself out too much tonight, because I plan to wake you at dawn.”
