I believe this will be the greatest breeding swarm in millions of years. The progeny from this swarm will likely be the strongest line for thousands of generations.

You are scion, but I strongly advise you to throw all caution to the wind. Call in all favors. Get here as fast as possible, and negotiate as aggressively as possible for best breeding order.

I have found my mate. Even though you are my scion and have the right of first choice, I do not ask your permission for this. I will take her as mine. When you see the human females, you will understand that I couldn’t have waited.

-Kaav

The message embedded itself into a few particles—which is why I had to keep it so short—which also encoded the coordinates of Eden, and then it stuck like a barnacle to the outside hull ofWrath. The next timeWrathused its grasp drives, the message would slip through, embedded onto whatever else Thuliak sent out. It might take a while, but Tharkur knew the particle signature I used, and our nerds could mass process all the incoming Hive Mind chatter to eventually find my little packet.

I usually made the packets as stealthy as I could, meaning it might take months for Tharkur to find. This time, time was of the essence, and I barely disguised the packet. It meant Thuliak would be way more likely to find it, but I couldn’t wait for weeks to get this message to my pack.

The packet attached itself to the hull. There was nothing more for me to do but wait for Thuliak to activate his Grasp Drive.

And now that I’d fulfilled my obligation to my pack and scion, I was taking my prize.

Her name was Weapons Sojourner.

I focused on the feed. I listened to her voice. It was much softer than I’d expected from a woman who dared point a gun at Thuliak. It was not a weak voice, but it was soft and pleasing despite its strength.

The feed cut off again. The women were about to discuss something between themselves. It sounded like they were going to decide if they’d go with Thuliak or not.

As a good spy, I had to make big decisions—often with no time to think it over. This was one of those moments. It was likely that the women would go with Thuliak. It was very likely.

Still, I didn’t actually care what all the women did, only what Weapons Sojourner did. There was a remote possibility she’d go back onto the human ship. Maybe Thuliak would send her back to keep relations good with the humans? I could think of a few dozen other plausible scenarios where she’d end up on the human ship rather than onWrath.

My top priority now was getting Weapons. I’d even do what I’d previously considered unthinkable in order to get her: I’d risk my second body.

I pressed my back and skull so hard up against the metal that it felt like my bones were going to crack, and I had my silver body press its hands against where the cocoon touchedWrath.

I gave the signal, and the cocoon detached. The cocoon had a little bit of power in it, but not much. I used a drip-feed of power to make the cocoon seem transparent by feeding the outside image onto the inside wall. I got my eyes onEve’s Rib,the human ship. It even looked likeWrathwas fuckingEve’s Rib, the way it docked with the airlock.

I kicked my silver feet offWrath, beginning to float weightless with the cocoon toward the human ship.

Already I felt the signal between my bodies fading. With the last shred of awareness before the signal between my bodies broke, I had the cocoon lock onto the human ship. It would use small bursts of power to keep itself on course, and finally, it would stick to the outside ofEve’s Rib. I had to just hope the cocoon would have enough power left at the end to keep itself hidden from the human women’s primitive technology.

I put the silver body back to sleep before the connection severed. If both bodies were awake and lost connection with each other, bad things tended to happen.

I peeled myself off the wall. In one lone body, I felt like half a Khetar. I had just one lonely cock with just two balls to keep it company. Whenever I briefly woke my silver body to send a message back to Tharkur, it always felt just as bad to put it back to sleep as it had felt good to wake it up and be whole again.
