“Tell us now, Airlock,” Emissary said. “About the sex. Did you get any cooties?”

Airlock pressed her lips together, carefully considering her response. “Are we not strong women? Hardened by generations of abstinence? Shouldn’t we be even stronger than the founders now?”
Shit. She was right, wasn’t she? I hated that she probably inherently knew—just from having had mind-blowing, life-altering sex—things that I had to take on blind faith. I still wanted to put up a bit of a fight though. I tried to think of any other explanation. “We aren’t stronger than the founders of Eden,” I said, “they knew what they were leaving. That took more ovaries than having High Command protect us. It’s harder to give up what you have than to never get what you don’t even know is missing. ”
“Maybe,” Airlock said, “or maybe human men just weren’t very good at fucking, and it wasn’t especially hard to leave them behind?”
Emissary frowned. “So you’re saying this Khetar’s miracle cock is so good that no woman couldeverresist it?”

I shot Emissary a look, wondering if she was skeptical, or if she was believing what she was hearing. I’d known that sex was something strange and foreign. High Command would have needed to trace the source of the gossip back as if they were back-tracing a biological plague or outbreak. They’d have needed to exile all women who had spread or evenheardthe gossip. It would have been a total disaster on Eden.
