“So far no one on the kitchen staff is owning up to being near Cullen’s room,” Vance went on. “And the kitchen entrance isn’t near Cullen’s room or the patio where Jamie was attacked.” He paused again. “But Wilmer did see someone there.”
Leigh jumped right on that. “Someone on the patio?”
“Yeah,” Vance repeated. “And this time, Wilmer got a decent look at the guy’s face. He says it was Cullen’s good friend Austin.”
“Austin?” Cullen said, the shock in his voice and on his face.
“Wilmer said he was positive that’s who it was,” Vance added.
Leigh immediately looked at Cullen. “Any idea what Austin would be doing out there on that particular patio?”
“None.” Cullen pulled the truck to a stop in front of the police department and took out his phone. “But I’m about to find out.”
