OFFICIAL MINUTES

The Annual Clarence River Bush Poetry Muster Emergency Meeting

Venue:

Clarence Bakery

Attendees:

Thelma Kwong, Gavin Hogan, Daisy Miles, Vonnie Adams, Merv O’Connor, Carol Wallace (Secretary & Minutes Recorder)

Apologies:

Patty Miles (Chairman), Angelo Lee, Ken Kwong

Thelma Kwong (in Patty’s absence) declared the meeting open at 7.45 am.

She then attempted to get the minutes of the previous meeting accepted but Daisy (who was bleary-eyed) said, ‘Can we skip the formalities, Thelma?’

Daisy then dropped a freaking bomb. ‘Thanks for coming last minute, everyone. Here’s the reason: Patty will no longer be available for the Annual Muster. Dad’s been a little crook for a while andhe’s had a setback. It’s cancer. He’s having radiation treatment and it’s knocking him around.’

A hubbub ensued with everyone asking what they could do, but Daisy said ‘nothing yet’ and she’d let the committee know when they were up for visitors. Everyone was speaking so fast (including Carol) that Carol forgot to write it all down. Merv then said, ‘Well crikey, that’s that, then. End of an era; we’ll have to cancel.’ But Hogey said, ‘Steady on, mate. Let’s not chuck a wobbly until we need to.’

Over a torn up sticky bun (donated free of charge by Jill from behind the bakery counter) it was agreed by all to continue with muster preparations as best they could while everyone had a good think about whether or not they could run the muster without Patty.

Thelma declared the meeting closed at 8.05 am.
