Zane grunted like he agreed. “I think she’s a liability. Especially if she gets overwhelmed as she did back there. Not much use, just someone else to protect. A distraction.”

“Do you think we should just kill her, steal her boat and take up the cause ourselves?” Rix asked. His tone had an edge of humor to it but also something else. He’d always had a softer spot than me, and definitely more than Zane, for the vulnerable. Even though the three of us were as close to being brothers as brothers could be, if Zane suggested we kill Haina, Rix would protect her. I could see it in his light brown eyes. He was developing feelings for her. I was there yet, but I also couldn’t deny that the didn’t woman intrigued me.

Zane grunted again. “Didn’t say that.”

Rix visibly relaxed and glanced back out into the water. But Haina was gone. “Where the fuck’d she go?”

“Around to the ladder,” Zane said blandly. “And no, I don’t think we should kill her …yet. Eventually, we’ll run out of vials.”

My eyes widened at his words. “You can’t be serious.”

He lifted a shoulder and just glanced at me out of the corner of his eye, his forearms still resting on the railing of the boat. “You wanna go through withdrawals?”

Fuck no, I didn’t.

But the alternative…

“We’re not fucking vampires,” Rix said on a whispered hiss. “There has to be another way.”

Zane just lifted his shoulder again. “Help her train her senses so they don’t overwhelm her like they did earlier. If she’s a triple-threat Hellcat, she needs to actually be of some use. Right now, she’s not. She’s a liability, another mouth to feed and a threat. Just because her heart rate didn’t spike doesn’t mean she’s telling the truth. She could just be a really good fucking liar.”

Rix and I had exchanged looks of horror at Zane’s initial suggestion for when we ran out of vials. But the idea of training Haina to compartmentalize her senses, to tune out certain things and tune in to others wasn’t a terrible idea.

I nodded slowly. “Okay, I can work with her.”

“Me, too,” Rix said, his fists bunched at his sides like he was getting ready to connect his knuckles with Zane’s face.

The feeling of another heartbeat drew near. We all heard it and shut our mouths, turning toward a dripping wet, rosy-faced Haina, gorgeously naked as she padded toward us. She wasn’t averting her gaze at all and allowed her ice-blue eyes to rake each of us from head to toe, lingering seconds longer on each of our cocks.

I couldn’t keep my eyes off her body either. And my cock started to lift again as I took in her perky breasts, flat stomach, round hips, and the patch of blonde hair between her legs.

I was only human, and Haina was beautiful.

Only I got the impression that she wasn’t looking at us the same way we were looking at her. Her gaze held open curiosity, born of ignorance and living in a sheltered world where simple information was kept from her. Our gazes were much more …primal.

“Nice temperature, huh?” Rix asked, reaching down to grab Haina’s sweater from where she’d dropped her clothes. He handed it to her, and she thanked him, shrugging into it.

The sweater barely covered her though. If she lifted her arms, she’d expose everything between her legs. Not that we hadn’t already seen it, of course.

Zane cleared his throat. “We should get moving now that it’s dark.”

Rix and I pulled on our pants and shirts without a word and went about lifting anchor. There was hardly any wind in the bay, but in more open water, we would most likely have enough of a breeze to guide us along the coast. A deeper inspection of the sailboat’s storage compartments revealed fresh water, more of the disgusting dried food packets, and fuel for the boat and cookstove. There were several solar panels on the boat as well, so we hoped the fuel was just a backup.

Haina tugged her skin-tight pants back on over her wet legs and wrung out her long blonde hair. “What can I do to help?” she asked, approaching me as I pulled the anchor on the bow and unraveled the mainsail. “I don’t know how to sail, but I’m a quick learner. Tell me something once, and I know it for life.”

“Just sit back and try not to get in the way, Kitten,” Zane said with a smirk as he walked past us—still naked.

“Put some fucking clothes on,” I chirped at him. “Nobody wants to see that shit.”

His smile grew. “Kitten’s pulse started racing when she saw it. It’s racing now. I’d saysomeoneon this boat would prefer I kept my clothes off.”

I glanced over at a crimson-faced Haina. She was staring, and I meanstaringat Zane’s cock, which was rising to the occasion, giving her a show of sorts.

I rolled my eyes and finished unraveling the sail. “You’re a prick.”

“Maybe I’ll just, uh … I’ll just go below deck.” She shot Zane another glare as she passed me, taking her rapidly beating heart with her.

I wound up and punched Zane hard in the shoulder. Though truthfully, I probably ended up in more pain than he did. His shoulder was pure fucking muscle.
