I inhaled deep and stared straight up at the ceiling, ignoring the fact that she could feel and hear my raging pulse. She could probably smell the pre-ejaculate on the tip of my cock, too. I could sure as fuck smell it. “When you saw ussmaller, that’s what we normally have between our legs. So it’s easier to run, walk, fight etcetera.” Even out of the corner of my eye I could see her brows scrunch.

“But then why was it bigger?”

“They get bigger when we’re…” I blew out a deep breath. “When we’re aroused.”

“Oh!”

Oh?

“Like excited?”

“Among other things.”

“Like?”

Fuck me. She wasn’t going to make this easy on me, even if she didn’t know she wasn’t.

“Like if we see a beautiful person. If we have intimate thoughts about them, about their body.”

Her pulse was picking up. So was her breathing. I could see her breasts—without her bra on—rising and falling rapidly out of the corner of my eye. She swallowed. “Oh!”

“Yeah.”

“So then … you guys find me beautiful? Iarouseyou?”

I was quiet for a moment, then whispered, “Yes.”

“Oh!”

She was unnerving me with her quick and clippedOhs!

“So how are you guys going to help me compartmentalize my senses? Can we start now? I don’t like being useless. I don’t want to not be able to fight the next time we’re ambushed, because let’s be honest, there will be a next time.”

I blinked a few times, taken back by her quick change of subject. “Uh … I … um…” I stammered for a second. “Yeah, we can start right now. Do you want to go out to the deck?”

She shook her head. “No. I’m okay staying here.” Then she reached for my hand, linking our fingers together and giving my hand a squeeze. Her dainty hand looked so peculiar in my big one. Not peculiar weird, just … strange. But it was a good strange. A strange I wanted more of. “Thank you for explaining things to me. I appreciate it.”

I squeezed her hand back, marveling at how good it felt to touch her. To hold her, even just her hand. “Ask me anything, and I’ll always tell you the truth. I’ll never lie to you, Angel.”

She turned her head and smiled, though there was darkness behind her eyes that made my body turn cold, reminding me exactly why Hellcats were also called the Angels of Death. “I hope not.”
