“Okay, I’m ready,” Grace said with a sigh, buttoning her coat. “Oh, this was such a fantastic night. My friends are going to be so jealous.”

I fished my car keys out from my pocket, placing a hand on Grace’s back to steer her toward the door, just in case she decided to go back and keep talking.

Right before we got outside, though, my cell phone dinged, loudly. Loud enough that it seemed to echo in my ears. I pulled it out of my pocket, reading the text before I registered who the sender was.

Crushed Beanz missed you tonight. :)

For several reasons, a flutter spread through my body.

I looked up, my gaze magnetized back to where Harry once stood, thumbs typing on his cell. Except now those thumbs were still, and his gaze was no longer trained on his phone.

No, his eyes had risen directly to me, on the cell in my hand. A small crease indented between his eyebrows, but before he could take a step forward, I shoved Grace out of Crushed Beanz, practically fleeing into the night.
