“Guys! Welcome—” she says, looking around the house, “to this rave of a party. Drinks?” She holds up red Solo cups nervously. To save her, I take one.

“Thanks, doll. You look gorgeous tonight.” She smiles and looks to Brock for a drink.

“My honor, sweetheart.” I roll my eyes at Brock.

“This party’s a little chaotic, but...it should settle down a little bit. I hope,” she says nervously.

I just smile at her inward battle. “First time throwing a party, huh?”

“Could you tell?”

I laugh and walk past her. Time to grab the bull by the horns.

“People!” I yell out. Everybody silences and looks in my direction. They all shout when they see who it is. I look at Leia and wink at her confusion. “Let’s be considerate of our lovely track girls, alright? They want this party to be awesome, but let’s take it easy on them.”

They all shout their confirmation. And just like that, people calm down and greet me by the door.

“I don’t even wanna know how you got that to happen,” she says behind me.

“Welcome to college. Be careful when you throw these parties. College kids know no limits.”

“You’re telling me,” she says, shaking her head. She takes a drink from her cup and scurries off, and I laugh and follow her.

LEIA

I’m tipsy. And I’m not sorry...

I’m on my sixth drink... maybe ninth. Who the hell knows? All I know is, someone definitely spiked the fruit punch and sodas. Because I shouldn’t be feeling a buzz.Oh-fucking-well. The mess of this party calmed down, and I actually needed the buzz. We’re in full swing now. The music gets a little louder, and I get tipsier. I put my cup down and move to the dance floor.

I begin to move with the music. The reggae music gets louder, and my hips start to join in with my arms as I start swaying with Taya and Sarah. Taya yells over the music, but I can’t hear a thing she’s saying. I just laugh and continue dancing to Beenie Man’s playlist. It isn’t until Taya looks behind me that I feel hands land on my hips.

Startled, I turn around and come face to face with Jake Larson. My heartbeat speeds up, and a shiver goes up my spine as he squeezes my hips. He simply smiles at me and starts swaying with me back and forth. The simple act is so intimate I don’t know what to do except continue dancing to the music. Taya smiles at us before dancing again. He continues swaying my hips with the music before whispering in my ear, goosebumps rising on my shoulder.

“You’re a tiny person, you know that?”

I laugh and turn to whisper in his ear, “Sounds like someone else I know.” His jaw drops as he cocks an eyebrow. I have no idea where that came from.

He smiles wickedly before tugging me against him.

“I can’t wait to prove you wrong, baby.”

What? I’m close to asking him what that means, but I don’t have the time to. Because he grabs my hips, and we start dancing again. We’re dancing for a while before he pulls strands of hair over my neck and starts nibbling on the skin there. The laugh that comes out sounds more like a groan. He just continues nibbling, and I start dancing again, holding his head in place. When the nibbling becomes too much, I solve his issue for him.

I grab his neck and don’t miss the confused look on his face. I slam his lips down on mine as his arms circle my waist. I hear shouts of approval from Taya and the girls nearby. He seeks entrance as he sticks his tongue in. I pull his neck down more, and he draws his tongue across my bottom lip. I groan when his lips leave my mouth to trail rough kisses down my neck.

Our making out lasts for what feels like forever before he pulls back and stares me in the eyes, putting his forehead against mine.

“You’d have to taste good too, mystery girl?” His eyes are full of hunger as they dart across my face.

“I’d say it’s the argan oil, but I don’t know how accurate that would be.”

He kisses my forehead. “No, it’s all you.”
