I couldn’t exactly tell Coach that I got pissed off at the fact my entire team finds my girl hot. He’d laugh in my face. She’s not yours, Larson. Get over yourself.

“I just had a bad morning,” I grunt out. He doesn’t seem to buy it. Neither do I, to be fair.

“Oh, if that’s the case, I should be beating the shit out of people left and right. Because bad mornings are a routine for me.”

I just stare at him. “Do you really think I’m in the mood for shooting the shit?”

“I don’t care what you’re in the mood for. Because I can’t have my captain beating the shit out of people because he’s having a fucking bad day.”

“Whatever, I got it.”

He gives me another glare before dismissing me.

Sighing, I get up and leave. I’m already over this bullshit. Maybe I should spend the afternoon in the weight room. I need the distraction. Except that’s not in the cards right now.

Because she’s sitting outside Coach’s office. My heart picks up speed every time I see her. Not a usual occurrence for me. She gives me a concerned look.

“Hi,” I manage.

She cocks an eyebrow at me. “‘Hi’? That’s all you have to say?”

I knew she’d be mad. It shouldn’t break my heart to see her upset. It fucks with my head.

“Leia...” I’m not sure what to say. I fucked up.

She grabs my arm and drags me to a janitor’s closet. She locks the door behind us and faces me. We have a brief staring contest. It feels a bit uncomfortable...but it’s kinda hot.

“Us in a compromising position? I didn’t think that’s how you rolled, Leia.” I instantly flinch after I realize what I’ve just said. I don’t mean to embarrass her after our last...meeting. But she doesn’t seem to acknowledge the meaning behind the joke. Nor is she amused. She just rolls her eyes, obviously over my antics.

“Larson, what the hell was that about?”

“What do you mean?” I knew it was pathetic the moment it came out of my mouth. And she seems to agree.

“What do I mean? You were beating up your teammate. In the cafeteria. Why?”

Her frustration is so fucking adorable. But I really don’t want to tell her why.

“Leia, please...” I really don’t want to do this with her. What I could tell her could run her away.

I beat him up because he fantasizes about the very tits that I wish I could wake up to every day.I don’t think that would sit well with her.

“Why, Larson?” Okay, she’s really pushing it with these demands. No matter how sexy it is to see her like this, I don’t feel like answering questions.

“I beat him up because you don’t wear enough clothes. Does that help?”

She flinches at that. She wanted to know. There you fucking go. She wears a sports bra and tight-ass spandex shorts every day. What the fuck does she think?

“Because I don’t wear enough clothes?” she asks in disbelief. She’s got no clue. She has to know she’s like...stunning. Unbelievably so.

“My teammates have a ton of testosterone, are horny, and haven’t gotten laid since last year. So yeah, I get pissed off when they notice that you’re hot, okay?” There. There’s no turning back now. She stares at me like I have three heads.Fuck. She must think I’m a weirdo now. Prepare to never hear from her again.I’m close to accepting my defeat and about to turn to leave before a sly grin hits her face.

“So you beat them up because you were jealous.”Jealous as hell. Dangerously jealous.

“Please, I never get jealous,” I lie. She looks at me in disbelief. I’m such a liar. Any guy witheyeswould get jealous when some random guy shows her attention.

“It sounds to me like you are,” she asserts. And you’d be right, babe. But no way am I saying that to your face.

“And it sounds to me like you’re dreaming.” Once again, she flinches.
